Janet, just ask nicely, give specifics, make it doable and say thank you.
Eg dear, dd exams are com8ng up. Can you go through topic xyz with her every sat for 45min? I think my explanation is not clear enough. Thanks dear/ i’ll prepare your favourite dish for lunch etc.
I have to say thank you to him for teaching his own daughter?
      sorry, I can't do it.
we have a shared google calendar and I upload what needs to be done at everyday when she is at home revising.
after he has explained a certain topic with her, I will check with him if a 2nd revision is required. then he will advise if I can stamp 'revised'...but if he feels she is a little weak and time permits, then I would have to find a day to slot in.
it's such an irony her exams coincide with PSLE.

I rmbr u used to get yr son to coach her. If it's more effective & yr younger girl listens to 哥哥'S coaching & advices more, get him to pep talk her & work with her. Then u cook his favourite food? Maybe can 'inspire' yr hubby into action w/o u opening yr mouth much.

son is still coaching her. hubby can't coach biology topics...so son explains to her. son's poly holidays are like godsend...because it's around the time daughter has exams.
son is no nonsense and will not tolerate any nonsense from her, so she is scared of gor gor.

Give yr son extra hugs & aunty here very proud he's bonding with his sister. Wow! I'd like to give him a :hi5: Well done, to help lighten & relieve mummy Janet's stress (esp with Biology).

Like one of my older niece, if not for my nephew, she wld had been wayward. My nephew has always been firm & set good example for her to work hard & not be distracted by worldly distractions or boyfriends. Today, niece not only hv a good career but married well with a cute grand-nephew. I missed them for moving so far to Australia. Can't hug & see him grow up.

I hope both yr children will lean on each other as they grow into adulthood & look out for each other. Yr son will make someone a good, responsible husband & father. :hi5:

Saw 6 small monkeys loitering at a bus stop along Mandai Rd.

Am surprised to see them under such hot weather.

There’s a small forest behind our house. In recent years there has been a lot of deforestation to make way for light factories. We have seen monkeys and squirrels being forced out of their habitats and running around in our housing area. The monkeys eat human garbage and the squirrels dash across roads.

I think one day the human race will have to pay the price.

Anybody does grocery shopping at CS in Rail Mall?

There are usually 2 senior ladies serving the roast meat counter: one plump with glass and the other lesser plump and w/o glasses. The latter is polite, helpful and friendly. The former is rather interesting to deal with.

After work, I went to see to pick up any roast chicken on offer. When I saw the plump lady manning the counter, my heart sank.

As usual, I asked her to cut the chicken into 4 parts to be packed into 2 bags. Dh and I can only finish a bag for our dinner. We save the other bag of meat for tmr.

The ad states Signature BBQ chicken at $4.90. There were 3 trays and I assumed all the same flavour. She asked which flavour do I want. I was puzzled as there was no mention of honey-glazed or pepper. So I said isn’t all the same flavour.

The most remarkable part was she replied: you don’t know English? All are bbq chicken. Unprepared by such response, I humbly admitted that I didn’t study much and hence couldn’t understand …

She unwillingly started cutting the poor little chicken for me.

I was smiling to myself by such encounter while walking home.

Once home and I opened the 2 bags, I saw 5 parts of the chicken.

Indeed she is more knowledgeable than me; I asked for 4 parts but she gave me 5. Now I may hv to seek her expertise how to divide this chicken btn 2 persons over 2 meals!

During a hot morning at Sembawang Golf Course, I saw monkeys at the roadside and cars hv to proceed carefully. Luckily I was in a car as I don’t want to have a face to face encounter with a bunch of monkeys

Come to think of it, I don’t wear high class clothes but am properly covered. I don’t look pretty but I take shower at least once a day. I don’t carry a branded handbag and my wallet has little cash but I hv means to buy many things.

There are indeed people who look down on some. It is fine as I don’t need to answer to those who look down on me.
