        i use the inner stainless steep pot to prepare soup...boil the ingredients on the stove for 15 minutes before transferring to the thermal cooker for another 3 hours. usually we will eat the pork ribs or chicken, so i do not cook too long or the meat would lose the taste.

          yesterday at ntuc got 20% promo bought 1 3.5l for my mom and a 1.8l with 2 inner pots..you gals may want to take note, 1.8l means total for 2 inner pots ..though not possible to place total 1.8l in one pot.

            my soup is generally an all in one dish…as such, i do not boil the ingredients for too long or the meat will be dry and tasteless. but now, i add 1-2 simple side dishes like veg and steam toufu with fish meat.

              Has anyone heard about this year’s NTUC textbook donation drive? I can’t find any announcement online. I just helped a friend clear her sons’ school books (she’s moving house) and she has a lot to donate.

                  MKS, just this year alone I have started using the Thermal Pots They are very useful especially when one has such a busy schedule and also in time for cooked food for the family. I have 2 2L 2-tier pots, 1 3L pot and 1 4.5L pot and personally I feel that having more serves me well in terms of choices when cooking different types of food.


                  For a 4.5L pot which is big, I can easily cooked 2 types of dishes in it by simply putting a steam rack and placed another dish on top. Stew chicken at the bottom and another braised pork at the top. Easily done. Then 3L pot for soup.

                  4.5L pot for double boil bird nests and fungus dessert or chicken soup.

                  3L for porridge or soups

                  2L for chicken stew and steam eggs

                  Even though both the 4.5L and 3L pots doesn’t come with an insert, you can still put in your own insert by placing a steam rack.

                    Thermal pot is good as we can have a dinner at home timely even though I am not around to cook in the day. Sometime depend on the type of food. For oxtail type of food which requires longer cooking time, I usually start cooking at night and put into the TP. Boil in the morning before before I leave. Come back home for dinner, boil again before dinner. The meat will fall off the bone. Super nice and tender without me tending to it much over the fire.

                      For me buy a TP which have a thermal efficiency of 60C for at least 6hrs.


                      As quote "The safe temperature for hot food should be above 60°C to prevent the risk of food poisoning, while cold food should be stored below 4°C. If any of the cooked food needs to be reheated, make sure it is reheated above 60°C to minimise the risk of food poisoning."

                        I m trying my 1.8l TP. Tried cooking porridge and sweet potatoes dessert…Issue is the base a bit too small so need longer time to boil using just the inner ring fire on stove. While searching on YouTube I notice they put maybe half filled pot instead…can mah? If can then bigger TP should be better lor.


                        The 1.8 l 2 inner pots looks small but actually enough de. Can easily yield 3 big bowls of scallop minced meat porridge but the heat not as lasting as my 3.5l.
