Y'all still don't get it from my previous post on buying from Fairprice means doing charity? I notice a lot of their prices are slightly marked up so that the cooperative can donate the proceeds to charity organisations. You have the Seniors discount day(s), Pioneers / Merdeka discount day(s) as well as their own blue collar union members special discounts for house-brand products and so on.

That's why I don't usually buy from FP, not because I don't want to donate to the needy, but because I don't know why I must be forced to do good every day/week. More importantly, their foods are not exactly ''premium'' by my standard, as in meats are not chunky enough to justify for the price, nor are the cuts suitable for my palate, when compared to those at CS/Market Place, gourmet butcheries and online Yakiniku suppliers. I also buy my imported frozens from M&S, Donki, Meidi-ya and Isetan. FP Xtra mostly carries Singapore SME food manufacturers' frozen local stuffs (CP, EB) if you haven't noticed.

\"The FairPrice Foundation, NTUC FairPrice’s charitable arm, has also pledged to match the service fees for online orders in donations of up to S$500,000 to five organisations – Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home, Metta Welfare Association, Assisi Hospice, Touch Community Services and Food from the Heart.\"

I suppose we will have to factor in rising inflation, rising fuel costs after Russia started invading Ukraine ytd.

Thanks for the heads up on NTUC prices. I pray that rising costs is the only thing we need to worry about with the Ukraine invasion... and not the start of yet another world war.

NTUC up the minimum purchase requirement for FREE delivery from $75 to $300? Not easy to hit $300 each time leh.
Did you accidentally select the business option? I just checked and it's still $79 for the personal option.

For Fairprice, it's been $79 for free delivery for a long time. The graphic is not correct although the article gives the correct figure.

There will not be another world war yet because both the US and the NATO will not engage in war with Russia and Ukraine is not a NATO member.

Once Russia takeover Ukraine, the other countries that used to form Soviet Union will be Putin’s target & probably easy peasy uncless Rest All start joining NATO. Not possible for these decisions though. Then we’ll hv ano ‘superpower’. Ano World War May not be for next decade but not unimaginable looking at how the few western countries trying to ward off China gaining its power. India not likely to gain much traction tho. My own take. M’while having just coming off towards opening up fr covid, we’ll be getting ano increase prices fr this as oil & energy prices will shoot up in the European bloc.

There’s this other thing - in current state, Putin cannot continue his rule but he’s a very determined man. If he managed to reap in the other neighboring ex-soviet union countries, he’ll be in bz again! :nailbite: :nailbite:

I didn’t notice the increase in prices at FairPrice either… thanks for the heads up. May I know where are the to-go places to get the usual items like milk, juices, fruits, veg and meat?

Sigh, I feel sad for Ukrainians. War has implications far more than just conquering lands.

Not just the civilians and soldiers suffer, the whole world suffers; look at the stock markets 😞

We must treasure the peace we have. Feel sad for them. Hope they could end it earlier with least casualties.
