I'm in a slacking mode now. Just got a project done which has been taking up a lot of time and energy for the past couple of months - and poorly paid too! I still have a some stuff to complete for my volunteer work which I need to get done soon as my husband and I go on vacation next week. I also need to get out my warmer clothing and get the house stocked up for the kids.

We also started planning our Dec vacation a couple of days ago, and as always, I get to do the research and the main \"busy\" work - tickets, itinerary, accommodation etc. My husband gives opinions, the family pow-wows a bit, then I do the work and submit what I have found out for \"approval\"! Seems silly to be planning this before we've even left for the May-Jun vacation, but we found that a lot of accommodation has been booked up already (in NZ). No choice but to travel during the peak period as we have to wait for NTU vacation and after the A levels.

I took a brief look at freelance projects to fill up my excess time and the rates do seem poor! I decided to put my energy elsewhere for now. I do enjoy doing \"homely\" stuff in between busy periods and you are totally right to book ahead of peak periods! The good (and popular) places go fast and sometimes you get a discount for early booking.

Have a great vacation next week!

what are the rates now, ammonite?

think the part time cleaner rate is more right πŸ˜‚

It is wonderful to stay at home

        Are you feeling better today?

        Am feeling wonderful
I really should consider quitting my job to stay at home
Life is short and unpredictable.[/quote]why not since you been planning for your retirement for quite sometime already. quit corporate job can still do other shorter term/hours jobs..

.me wondering, actually what hourly rates will move you mommies to work arh? go out to office or work at comfort from home.

One of my colleagues (age 40-45) just resigned and I was surprised by his courage
I don’t have much employable skills except to remain in my current job
Am still planning to work till age 55 then perhaps go part time is work a few days per week so that I can have the remaining days as ME time

Who needs kicking? Lai, lai, I am in a kicking mode.

Helper kenna from me these few days. She really slackened a lot. Kids and DH has been complaining about missing socks, undies, clothes, etc. Checked and found that laundry is done, she just did not sort them out and put them into the respective cupboards. She is also not cleaning the toilets as frequently and lately, not washing our cars unless we reminded her to. Made her clean out the fridge and pantry. OMG, she really got it from me when I saw the stuff that has been languishing in my fridge.

Staff also received a reminder from me this week, a lot of them have paperwork and admin backlog that has been piling up. Made them do a mini housekeeping of all their respective areas. Rolled out a few projects so all of them are scrambling to get their respective parts done.

Kids well, not spared either. Exams are done this week. Time to clear out their rooms. Depending on results, we shall see how much work needs to be done this holiday. Confirm DD will need some help with her Chinese, so told her to check with her friends if any of them are attending any good tuition centre or have any recommendation. Told her to do some googling to find out more about some of the more reputable centres that are near our place.

Really, people cannot be left to idle. Once they start idling, even things that are normal day to day stuff will be left undone eventually. The problem is figuring out what is the optimum amount of work that one should handle, without it becoming too stressful.

I didn't take note, but remember it was unacceptable to me. But it also depends on what you are looking for.
PT cleaner - is it 15 or 20 per hour now?

I think it really depends on the whole package. Distance, time, nature of work, employer and personal interest. Are you considering some offers? Of course it depends on individual motivation and priorities as well.

It is absolutely ok to remain in NA if your dd is comfortable with the learning pace
If she is in Express but suffers, what is the purpose?

Precisely. That's what I think so too.
No point going to express, suffer the fast pace and lose confidence. Right now, she is doing ok for English, math, borderline passing for history and geography. Have to work on her science tis holiday.
Some of her former classmates from p6 are ignoring her...so I advised her to forget about them as friends should not look down on others. I think that's the reason why she wants to go to express stream.

That is very mean if they are looking down on her! But maybe they are just busy with new friends? Kids tend to just hang out with those they see more. It's inevitable that they don't stay as close to those they see less often. My daughter had the same experience after Y2 and Y4 when everyone was redistributed according to subject combinations. Encourage your daughter to make stronger new friendships if the old ones are less strong now.

it is very difficult to return to the working force as my kids are at the age of mixing with the wrong company and younger one still needs me around although she is in sec 1.
