Mums have a right to be fierce for the sake of their kids and even their 'fierce' is not the type of 'fierce' that would harm/kill a child if he/she misbehaves.

You don't hear of maids being fierce is because they always put on a 'nice' front, but when they are alone with their charges, you won't want to know what they are capable of and it is for this, together with other reasons that's why I don't trust my boys to a maid. The word maid was never in my/our vocab.
