Is this true ? Never heard from my son but I doubt so . Would there be rooms to accommodate all of them ? Btw , I wonder who actually stays in the hostel in AHS ? Do they have so many foreign students there ? All sec 1 students are supposed to slect their CCA soon . My son will be going for the badminton trial and hope to be selected . Heard Chinese Drama is a niche CCA in AHS and all students actually went for the audition last week and will be informed of the result today, i think . Is this s a good CCA to consider ? Maybe any Anglican or parents of Anglican can advise …

Those have to stay in hostel are Sports student with result less than 210. This is to boost their result in order to catch up with the rest. -

Actually result has gone up this year. 1L5R should be 0.1 to band 1. about 0.4 better than last year.My son will be entering AHS as he was not successful for appeal to VS .
I noticed the threads for AHS is not as popular as VS . They are already in their pg 8! I would like to find out more on AHS. In Secondary 1 , are the students being allocated to their classes per their PSLE scores and if all students with HML grouped together in same class ? Are students from DSA entry through sports grouped separately in another class ?
I heard many sayings that AHS standard has dropped through these years . Is this true ? This year COP of 240pts was the lowest in their record !
However the emphasis for Anglican is not just academic result. Children can learn to be responsible and compassionate through the Christian influence. -

Thanks MADJP . I checked with my son , he is not awared there is classes allocated for TOP scores students . He does not even know what std of the class he was placed . But one thing was sure , DSA students are ramdonly distributed . Attended the parents session this afternoon ,noticed the school focus alot on Chinese ..Hope their Math and Science subjects are on high focus too ...

I have no worries about the standard of maths and science in AHS, because their exam papers are known to be tough. What is important is that your DS is happy and motivated there. If he sets his mind on working hard, he should do very well. My younger brother went to a \"lousy\" secondary school but ended up with a phd in maths.
One area of concern, though, is that, according to my DD, those who do not do HMT are not allowed to do triple science. If triple science is very important to your son, then you might have to consider getting him into an IP school in sec 3. On the other hand, according to the VS principal, biology is actually a non essential subject for entry into medicine and even biotechnology. It is very time consuming to study, hence my husband and I are more comfortable with our other children sticking to pure physics and chemistry. Like I said, your son can always apply for IP in Sec 2, into schools such as VJC, TJC.
need to add that the chinese standard is very high in AHS, yesterday my dd already asked to hand up essay of at least 600 words. -

This is band 2 school, but compare to other school this school is more caring towards students. For example, other school they have Sports class which are not very well taken care of. As for AHS, all sports student with low T-score will be given intensive care by asking them to stay in boarding school for 6 months to boost the academic. So the poor student will benefit a lot.You might want to take a look at this

AHS is a Band 2 school.
Since AHS is taking Sports DSA with result as low as 205, the overall average will drop. But for this year, AHS even managed to make good improvement.
I think should be very close to band 1. -
Hi Crazydad, I believe your DD must be taking HMT right ? Hope those taking normal chinese is not that tough . My DS’s chinese standard is only so-so and he dislike chinese composition alot .
As for TJC and VJC , for those who gone in under IP program after Sec 2 will study there for their Sec3 and 4 but will be under the through train program . So the question whether these JC have Sec3 and 4 classes is "yes" . Correct me if i’m worng . -

My DD in Sec 3, AHS, told me this morning that the school took their pictures to make ic photos ( for the younger parents out there, this is the year they make ic, and they have to go to ICS on their own when their 15th birthday arrives, unlike my time). I think this is very nice, because her gor gors' schools did not do that. She said money has been collected for that, but has no idea how much because it has been lumped together with other expenses. Actually, I can't even remember them collecting money. Even if the school does make a profit from it to fund its indoor stadium, I think it is a good idea as it benefits both students and school.

Anyone out there has experience with your child being transfered from another Sec School into AHS at Sec 2 ? That is to apply entry into AHS with Sec 1 results and then join them in Sec 2. What are their criterias ? Is AHS strong in Maths and Science ? AHS seems to focus in Chinese, so if my DS is not taking HMT, will he be placed in a lower grade class ? Any comments from anyone please ? Greatly appreciated
