for mine, so far so good, I don feel my son is stressed up and the school build kids up to tbe independent, the teachers and principals are very approachable, unless what I heard from the more reputable schools.
I am pleased with the environment so far (1month).
My colleague’s gal oso with the school, she’s in P2 now, good feedback from them too …
Oh ya, what I like most if the in-house student care, keep me at ease that everything happened in the school, all accountable. -
oh teacher are nice too. they will call the parents to give some updates if they found your kids is not behaving well or not performing well in their homework. the stduent care teachers will also update if your kids not feeling well.
so far my 2 gals are enjoying. guess i got no regrets to send them to horizon. stress parents = stress the kids. -
Hi, my son is in primary 1. He is very happy with the school, keep saying he loves the school.
I have done some checks on the Punggol school. And have not regretted my choice.
The teachers and principal and vice principal are very nice and approachable. -
Tks for the feedback! Read that Horizon offers Higher Chinese for P1 and it’s compulsory. It’s just one subject right? They don’t have to take Chinese, then Higher Chinese? Is it possible to opt out or my child has to take HC till P6? Are the rest of the subjects taught in Eng? Coz my friend who sent her son to Holy Innocents told me that everything is taught in Chinese except English and Maths. So stressful!

horizon only offers higher chinese. I attended the briefing in jan this yr. the vp explained the higher chinese has the std chinese teachings so sch decides to take higher chinese. anyway the chinese texts are no longer the same of those what I attended 30yrs ago.
greendale offers std chinese as my nephew is attending there.
can’t comment on the teachings whether are in chinese or english.as my eldest is only in p2. -

Hi, my understanding for higher chinese is there will be an assessment in primary 4 whether the child can cope with higher chinese or normal chinese.
The idea behind is if the child goes to normal chinese, having studied 1st few years of higher chinese. He/she can cope with normal chinese with lesser problems.
Personally I quite like this idea. It follows sap school like Ai tong style. -
hi all mummies for p1 & p2, i called the bookshop & the FTGP books just arrived. Sorry about earlier on that I mentioned books were ready as my 2nd girl gave me the wrong info.

hello mummies,
do you all have any good ideas to keep the kids from spending the pocket $ on unncessary stationaries than food?
During recess time, he either play or buy stationaries these days and no longer wanna eat. As their lunch is at 130pm, and he doesnt eat much in the earlier morning, so I hope he could eat during recess.
I "threatened" to give him packed food instead of $ to buy, but he dare me, say "ok lo". But the problem is, he is a very picky eater, normally those sandwiches i prepare, he dont eat, but he enjoyed canteen’s japanesefood stall.
dunno how to handle this growing kid, he is getting out of my hands… headaches. -
yr son in P1?
actually for the start of Jan, i pack food for my girl on mon & wed cos long days. I only gave $1.50 for 2nd recess. And i ask my girl everyday what she eats. Also force her to remember the price. everyday keep nagging no buying things from bookshop. if needs anything, must come back & tells me. also get my elder girl in p2 to find the food price. so i try to minimise to give extra pocket money. once a week, like wed, got ice cream sells in canteen, my girls will ask permission to buy, then i will give extra.
my elder also like jap food, but the sushi roll is very thin & not full. So i keep nagging at my girls to eat more healthy food.
maybe u want to pack what he like in the beginning, & give maybe like a dollar for sushi roll.
oh btw i pack sandwiches too with a packet of milk. the last round i fry fried rice for my girl to bring to sch.
