Haiz... wat to do... just receive the package from Horizon in my letter box ytd... the booklist purposely put the word \"NEW\" besides the new syllabus Chinese Textbooks.

            Hi,

Just got the booklist for my girl going p1 next year. Would like to check I need to get all the books listed in the booklist? Order online better or order on orientation day itself better?

those indicate 'optional' dont need to buy... waste money cos the teacher don't use... there are many other days that you can buy your textbooks if you are SAHM...but if you need to take leave to buy at other days, might as well buy during the orientation day... do ask your hubby to come along... one queue for textbooks, the other queue for uniforms, cut short the waiting time. if u r not driving, bring along a trolley cos the books can be quite heavy if you have a walking distance from school to hm.

                      hi

i noticed my girl next yr p3 mathematics textbook has changed from targeting matematics to my pals are here. any parents know why?
                      background:
when my elder started off p1 in 2012, she used My Pals are here and continuing till next yr P4 also using My Pals are here. And when my 2nd girl attended p1 in 2013, changed from My Pals are here to Targeting Mathematics. Now next yr p3, changed from Targeting Mathematics to My Pals are here.

                      Kind of frustrated and confused.

To all current and prospective parents with kids in Horizon,

Just to share my experience with Horizon.

I really grateful that my daughter is in Horizon. We moved to Punggol in 2011 and transferred my kids into the school. She took PSLE this year and I can see the improvement and confidence she gained after the transfer. I know my kid’s abilities and is thankful for the results she got. I really thank the teachers who have taught her since P3.

Special mention must be given to her P6 teachers, especially her form and science teacher, Mr Tan. Although he is a HOD for staff development who is very involved in many school activities and parent activities, he will always spend time interacting with the pupils and encouraging them. His care and concern for his pupils is sincere and true. Even in the recent trip to Desaru, he kept all of us updated throughout the trip through whatsapp and even organised a surprise birthday celebration for my girl’s two classmates whose birthdays are on/near that actual day. My daughter enjoys his Science lessons and I can see the improvement ever since he took the class in mid 2013, from a around 50 marks in P4 to a ‘A’ in PSLE. I heard from several teachers that the School’s performance for Science this year is above national performance for both A*-A and passes. Heard that the Foundation Science which is also taken by him has also performed better than National. According to some parents, he was heading the Science Department in his previous school. Many thanks to him!

Not forgetting Ms Wu, the chinese teacher. She is also another caring teacher who is patient and often keeps the parents updated. She is always helping her pupils and leading them in projects. Even after PSLE, she was leading them to prepare for the Leadership Day (Graduation Nite). Many thanks to her!

Really hope that my younger son will be taught by teachers like them in 2015.

                        Have faith in Horizon Primary!
