Cantonment Primary

Hi,
Can anyone share on the way chinese being taught in Cantonment?
Heard that Zhangde way of teaching chinese is too dull and many homework for children. As I am not from chinese speaking family, I do not want my child too stressed up for his chinese learning. Heard RVPS teaching way is fun that kids enjoy, but no chance for me going there now
Thanks a heap for the info! -
Homework for P1 is very light & manageable. So far, DS has never come home with chinese homework but when I asked him about Chinese class, he says he enjoys it and likes the Teacher. There is chinese spelling every week - also very manageable & the list for the whole term is given in advance. My DS goes to Berries to supplement his learning.
So far, I would say the school is fairly well-organised, homework is manageable and there is a balance of academic & non-academic activities. When I compare with my older kids who are in different primary school, I would say so far so good, at least for P1. -
Thanks Beanbear

It's a great relief to hear that. High chance I will register there :rahrah: -
Anyone has any experience with the studentCare in the school? Is it good?

Hello there, my son is also in P1A with Mrs Tan! I think she's a great teacher, very patient and nice. My son really likes her a lotHi Beanbear,
My son is also in Primary 1A too. I like to know more parents of the my son's classmates, and I wish the school would arrange opportunities for us. Heard from my son today that the mother of xx classmate is a parent voluneteer. I have also signed up to be a parent volunteer but the school has not called me yet :-(.
2010sunflower,
Am encouraged to know from you that our kids are in good hands.
The children are given work to do in class each day. If the work is not finished in class, they will bring home to do. I do not get to see the school assessment except the weekly spelling results. My son used to get many times close or equal zeros for spelling and do sloppy work like one simple sentence for his journal in his K2 days because I want him and let him manage his own education all by himself. However it is hard not to bother now because cantonment school gets the parents so involved by having us signed the daily records and letters as our kids will bug us if we do not do.
Today they sent us the assessment plan 2012. I feel the school is very well organised and planned to let parents informed on important areas to get parents well involved in children education. So this school will perform well.
I'd also be happy to have the opportunity to meet parents. Would be nice to have a list of parents names and contact details (for those willing to do that of course). They've been doing this at a few schools my kids attended in the past and I found it quite useful. Also think that a Facebook group could be a cool way to keep in touch.... Any interest? -

Hi there, my son is in P3. The form teacher has changed since the beginning of the year which I find a bit weird, but apparently this happens. My son has not really voiced any concern although he did mention that the first teacher was raising his voice a lot which bothered him.Hi,
we are thinking of transferring our child to the Pri 3 class this year, would be grateful if any parent of Pri 3 student could provide feedback of the teacher and class. Thanks loads! -
Hi, I am considering enrolling my child in the student care. Appreciate feedback on the centre: Is enrichment classes being provided or is it more supervision of homework? What are the activities if there is no homework and is there any nap time? What is the ratio of teachers to students? thanks.

Hi fellow parents,
My boy just got accepted to Cantonment Pri, P1 next year.
Just want to check if anyone knows and can share details if there will be a streaming test during orientation or the first few days of school? Thanks. -
