          janet_lee88:

My son didn't do very well...we were caught off guard. He has 203. Need time to get over it. Seriously I don't know what happened, but can't ask him.

Dear janet_lee88, I couldn't sleep yesterday knowing you weren't sleeping.. I couldn't sleep feeling the anxiety you were feeling.. i couldn't sleep knowing that like you, i'm a mom too. Moms can feel these things.Throughout the year, you have poured out your soul to us.. shared your turbulent challenges about your family, about your son's operation, about how you chiong all your might, about how you almost emptied your investment so he could get the help he needs, how you showered all your love and care for him cooking his favourite meals, ensuring he stays well and healthy, about how you took time to observe that he doesn't burn out....... these, to me are things that moms can feel whether it is for our own children or for a friend's. You've been no less than a cheering squad for everyone in PSLE related threads understanding the struggles parents and children go through to prepare themselves for this national exam and you definitely deserve no less than a cheering squad to help you past this emotional phase. Because of the investment you've made.. money.. time.. efforts.. etc, there was a certain hope.. a certain expectation expected from your son.. so when it didn't materialize, you felt crushed.. and you felt defeated.. but you shouldn't. As a mom, you have been everything to him.. a pillar of strength.. a source of esteem.. a shoulder to lean on.. a friend to call upon.. a mom to love him with all you've got in you. You have battled him looking different from other children.. battled with your ILs.. battled with him being in school but barely learning much.. you have been at so many crossroads, but came out triumphant. Today is no different. Your son has battled many nights of endless homework, topped up with tuition, followed by long school days, not much of holidays, he poured his all and tried his all.. he put his all into this exam. Yes he did.. AND he came out triumphant once again, for despite the struggles he faced and despite the hard work he put in, he got into the express stream.. and that is his best. Celebrate his best. Celebrate his efforts.. all his hard work.. all the many months of toiling.. all the many months he has been a good son to you. Celebrate his strengths. Remember his little achievements can slowly grow to motivate him to achieve bigger ones... but only if you are there with him. For you are his strength. You are his source of comfort. Take comfort that there are many roads to success and that the meaning of success itself varies between people and we don't need to travel the same path that leads to it. Your son's success today is passing his PSLE (meaning he does not have to repeat P6).. his success is that he gets into express stream as well.. his success is because YOU.. were there for him when he needed you most.

In this next few days, do not look back. Do not look back in anger, disappointment or despair. But instead channel positive energy looking into a school that can offer him a good fit. One with an interesting CCA that he can thrive in (one he enjoys and can be great at).. one with values which indirectly says a lot about their teachers.. one with the vision that every child has potential and can maximize it under their wings and guidance.. one with dapper uniform is bonus. 😉 But most importantly, the school that can offer him the best of the next 4yrs for PSLE is over and finally done with and thank goodness for that. Good riddance. :torchme:

Come 2013, your son gets to start on a clean slate. But for now, apart from the task of the secondary school selection... take time out to celebrate the mother and son bond you have shared the last months so closely together... and the little successes you two have achieved... together.

          All my love.. :please:

          :hugs: *buds* :hugs:

          hi janet_lee88

I am not an active forum person in KSP as compared to all these great KSP grandmaster but I can definitely feel the love from all of them /us to you. You are really a very great mum who has done so much for your DS and family. Have a good break, take a rest, and the disappointment of yesterday will be history soon. All my close buddies in secondary school belong to the \"choose between Normal or Express\" catergory (so you know our scores ;). One has become head of Marketing in a MNC, one has become a millionarie from properties, etc..and we are not ashamed to tell people which sec school we came from cause all of us turn out fine and well. So, what is PSLE when we grow up...can't remember 😉

Hope to journey through with you in KSP as I realized your DD and my DS1 are of the same age 🙂 Jia you and big big hug! :hugs: :grphug:

            Hi everyone,

I don’t know how relevant it is to ask this help here when you all have other major concerns. I apologize if this hurts anyone. I am genuinely interested in some help in choosing my daughter’s secondary school. She scored 252 + 2 for HMT. She has been a school topper in previous years and a consistent high scorer. All the while we were having a high expectation like 260+ and dreaming about top schools with IP. I feel very helpless to choose her school. Does she have any chance to get into IP programme?. If not what other good choice of school I have?. I live in marine parade. Will appealing for recorrection help in anyway?.

I admit I am a Kiasu parent. It is also wonderful to see the kids in these schools got such wonderful PSLE grades. However, I do not think it makes much sense to focus only on the toppest score of the school. After all, the toppest score is more of a confirmation of the individual kid's effort than the school's overall effort. It's the total numbers of kids that scored up 260+, 250+ that reflect the standard of the school.

                Hi,

I've a few questions, not sure if it's appropriate to post it here:

                1) with the same T-score, will my 1st choice will be of higher priority than your 2nd choice?

                2) Is everyone offered Malay/Arabic for 3rd language?

                3) My child is eligible for SAP school. But he didn't meet the MOE's requirement of MT = A* or HMT <= MERIT. Does it mean if he goes to SAP, he will do Normal MT? I also heard that some SAP schools offer only HMT. Thus, does it mean then the MOE's requirement will be overriden?

                TIA!
                1. Posting is based on merit, not on your choice vs my choice. So, when it comes to your child's turn, the system will look at his choices accordingly and post to whichever that still has vacancies. If all his 6 choices are full, then, he will be post to the nearest sec school from his home address which still has vacancy.

                2. No, not everyone is offered 3rd language. Top 10% offered all the 3rd Lang, including french, German and jap. Then the next x% will be offered only Malay, Arabic, etc.

                3. Not too sure. Maybe should call the school to ask. I thought the requirements are not that stringent.

cedar girls has IP (newly set up), right? perhaps u can try cedar.
for non-IP in the east, can consider anglican and chung cheng which are both good schools, i think.

Need some advise please.... My girl got 235, any good sec school in west for this range?

Hi, just to share.. There is this education and careers guidance portal at https://ecareers.sg that MOE set up. Need your DC's BC no. to login. Apparently, it's available to all students from P1 onwards but seems that very few parents know about it. It has a neat feature where you can key in your DC's PSLE agg and limit by geographical region to get a list of schools. Hope this helps.
