Care to explain whay do you mean the effort are duplicated? My ds (P1) has been with LCtral for two months (5 sessions) but i am considering not to progress with it upon completion of the total 11 sessions. reason being that i feel the efforts are duplicate.
however i am considering to enrol my dd (K1) for launchpad but i am not sure whether she can be entitled to the 10% disc and $30 voucher that i got when i enroled ds months ago. the 10% disc and $30 voucher were stated to offset ds's next term tuition fee.
any experience ?
thanks -
the curriculum (Success) is too exam-focused.
kids can learn more at school. Stellar program is richer…
enrichment can just reinforce part of what is taught at school…
In his pre-school time, he showed no interest in Eng. Fortunately, his primary school FT is very inspiring. The effect is profound…
On the hindsight, I am afraid I am “overdosing” ds with something(esp exam-focused) that is redundant. The weak area of ds is writing though his score for SA1 is one of the highest in his class.
in short, LC might not suit the need of ds. What he needs is Writing program…

I think like wise where wonder English enrichment would be good? I'm more concern on grammar & creative writing meaning compostion.
LCentral is very examination focus? If the particular school have STELLAR mean it is very good already? -

yes, in its curriculum(Success) it is stated clearly that it is exam-focused....
suggest u to take a look at it next time u are there...
of coz STELLAR itself is very good...
i remember last time LC offer writing holiday intensive course, but not sure whether gd or not. personally i feel to improve one's writing skill, kids need a regular course in a longer time..... I am also searching for a good writing course for my DS. -
Hello All, I am right now in a dilemma… My DD(K1) is currently in ICR advanced reading class. In the lesson, they are taught either to write sentences, grammar and some comprehension. A different book will be given every week and there are 3 stories in it…Some of the stories are repeated from ICR Stage 1 except they are now without any guided codes…Lesson is quite simple and she is coping very well…She had just started on this programme for about 2 months…
I had previously sent her to Lcentral for assessment and she can start on their SUCCESS programme.
Actually I thought of transferring her to Lcentral since the programme seems to be more structured and comprehensive than the advanced reading class in ICR…I did look at Lcentral’s material and they are tailored to primary school curriculum…
During the assessment in Lcentral, teacher had commented she reads accurately and with a high standard of fluency…Should we stop her advanced reading class in ICR? Any parents has any good feedbacks to share?? -

You would have to decide for yourself as whether to continue with ICR or quit ICR & join LCentral. If you are not seening results from ICR, why not do a switch.Hello All, I am right now in a dilemma.. My DD(K1) is currently in ICR advanced reading class. Hi Titank, she had been with ICR for 15 mth and she progress with them since PRP to ICR Stage 1 to advanced readng programme...She had learnt to read very well and I must thanks the same ICR teacher who had been with her.. ICR is really strong in their reading programme and am just wondering whether my girl should look into other areas of English..Will Lcentral SUCCESS programme works better for her than just reading??
Currently her ICR advanced reading programme does not have any workbook...just an exercise book and every week the teacher will work on different areas.....Probably I will let DD have a trial lesson in Lcentral and then check with her which one she likes better?
BTW, thanks for your feedback!

hi, may I know more about Bruce - in what way is he good?ctct61t,
I think Bruce is good as my DS & DD were also had the assessment. As I prefer weekday class so the teacher won't be able to be taught by Bruce but would be another lady teacher in which she would come in by July.
I am thinking of registering my dd for the holiday writing program and the teacher is Bruce. -
They have a creative writing program starting on 7 Jun 10 to 11 Jun 10.
Maybe you can try it out with Bruce which he is conducitng the creative writing. -

It will be good to know in advance how good he is before I decide which program (i hv two programs in mind for next week) to register my dd next week. Where and which level did he teach your kid? I understand that he has just joined LCentral recently... Though the person in charge mentioned that he is Australian and a native speaker of English, not all can teach children effectively though. They have a creative writing program starting on 7 Jun 10 to 11 Jun 10.
Maybe you can try it out with Bruce which he is conducitng the creative writing.
