I think I'm lucky that the one I join is not a cheater. By the way, did you encounter before. Is there a list of bad organiser where I can check before joining the spree?
I've joined a couple of sprees. I'm not advocating joining spree but just sharing how I choose. I only join the spree if:
I can't get the item via the website. Sometimes there is only local delivery. I can only imagine that the organizer has a contact in that area to arrange delivery. The money saved must be worth it of course.
If the organizer has previous spree and repeat visit from same customer.
The amt for the spree is not too much.
OF course there's always an amount of risk involved
I also organize sprees and join sprees there, for the same reason that you wrote.
I just want to share something shocking that I read in the SMH spree section. Someone admitted to \"borrowing\" the account of an experienced organizer. The administrators have not done anything yet.
Personally I will not advise others to join the SMH sprees, quite afraid that people will blame me if something goes wrong. -
What is SMH? Why more cases of fraud from there?
-
SMH = Singaporemotherhood - another popular forum with mothers to be and mothers alike. More cases of fraud becos more pp join/organise sprees within that community?
Personally I won't join sprees becos the ones I joined in the past are a bit black box - I don't know when I will get my stuff and how much I have to pay in terms of transport and forex terms. Unless I know the person personally (rather than an unknown nick), else i won't place much store by it. Pay more, but get peace of mind.
That said, to each their own. I see friends who've bought stuff from sprees and are cheerful about the amount they've spent. Good for them. :celebrate: Also, i've heard stories about people who've paid, in happy anticipation about the goods they are going to receive, only to find it's a scam. :stupid: -
May i know if anyone has ordered cartoon vcds/dvds from dangdang before? Iβm contemplating ordering xi yang yang series, hua xian zi etc but is worried that they may be held up at SG custom or be imposed licence fee. Pls share you experience. Thanks.

I ordered δΈε½ carton DVDs. No problem at all but I have heard of people's VCDs held by customs for inspection but since nothing R-rated or political, also released...so just delayed. -

I ordered xi yang yang dvd with some books in Oct. The stuff arrived 8 weeks later. I had wondered if customs was watching through my dvds but the package arrived unscathed. Nothing to fear if there is nothing to hide.

Hi
Anyone order clothings from dang dang beside books? Could you share your experience on the purchase. Thanks in advance. -

Must check. I tried ordering some clothes/other non book items but couldn't finish the transaction. Reason being they don't accept international credit card; you can try bank transfer or if you can ask a local (with local credit card). Perhaps those are concessionaires so they rather go without the risks of going international.Hi

Sigh...my fren went to china and I happily confirmed with her hotel that they would accept parcels sent from dangdang on her behalf and ordered. Days BEFORE she arrived, dangdang website showed that the goods were/would be dispatched (multiple orders lah), and I was happy to think that she would be able to collect on my behalf.
Many days later, my fren then emailed to tell me she did not receive any parcels; neither did the hotel. Upon checking with dangdang then I realised that the courier company was holding the parcels as they were unable to reach the receipient. I had provided a SG mobile phone (ok, they obviously won't want to call that) and the hotel phone number. Anyway, to cut the story short. After 2 days of emailing and even calling dangdang, my orders still weren't sent to the hotel and my fren returned to SG without my books.
Morale of the story. Anyone who is going to China for holiday and wants to order. Once you see that the order has been 'delivered', please call the courier company and ascertain that they did or will be sending the parcels to the hotels. NEVER assume - I did that for Amazon/US hotels and it was fine.

Still very upset that the courier co is so responsible as to \"TRY\" to contact the receipient before sending out the parcels.
