Hi charliewindson,

I’ve ordered from DD umpteen times since 2010, so much so I’m a diamond club member. Packages have taken long to deliver for international shipments, but they all came through. these days, I don’t even have to send email to authenticate my payment and it’ll pass their audit.

There was once when I had multiple payments and multiple refunds, DD failed to refund one. Once I pointed out to them, they confirmed the refund fairly quickly and I received the credit. In fact, when I complained that the time they overlooked cost me exchange loss, they gave me vouchers enough to offset the loss, and a bit more.
So far my Amex card, used only for DD, has never reflected any weird charges.

I will continue to use them. may try peeka since the delivery lead-time is shorter and I may save on postage. have tested DD on many occasions and they never failed to deliver.

thanks for the replies, so it seems for those cards they do work just fine.

        now for something else entirely.

To the admin of this site

and i also see that the admins have removed my previous post of dangdang problem, i'll take it as a gesture that you do not wish to acknowledge this problem despite the importance of it needing to be brought into attendtion in presiding presense of authentic proof speaks volume of your character.

admin, you do not know enough of DD in the past to discredit me

to proof you wrong i also dug these info up for you.

        http://bbs.goodbaby.com/archiver/?tid-432126.html
http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1410
I knew it wasn't working because I translated the paiement page and it's was saying \"05 : Rejected\" plus the status of the order was \"waiting for paiement\".
i'm more likely to be of help to everyone here than a hindrence, i don't sound smug because i'm knowledgable, its because you aren't. and yet you're chosing to enforce your own ego at the cost of monetary expenses and loss of others, my what character you have.

        let me ask you something.

are you capable of identifying the authenticity of this error?

are you capable of providing help other than mod this site?

you removed a post that points to past and current serious potential problems with the system of DD that has been well known for some time,

for what exactly did you remove it for?

what was achieved for the benefit of everyone in here?

did you even know that at one point dangdang offered paypal as an option before they got rid of it in 2008?

        i rest my case.

i have a screenshot of dangdang editing my shipping costs history to offset the amount they won't refund me, now you give me one good reason why i shouldn't come back here to post that image with pics to make you look an idiot.

EDITED: i see that the post has been restored.

also i received an email from DD a long while ago finally acknowledging their error.

also i was shopping yesterday and i ran into this same error again, though i want to point out that i used a different method to nag them this time as they didn't acknowledge my single payment like numerous times before. i have the entire \"procedure\" in detail and can describe it with more accuracy. Also i stopped using the CS email address as they don't acknolage payment with that anymore

like i said this should be very invaluable to ppl with Visa, finally i have the time to document this whole \"ordeal\" and the solution. yet i will not disclose this info and will leave anytime i pleases. until i hear from the admin why it was that my first post got removed yesterday.

i'm the only one who is willing to report back on the procedues and solution to this 3 year problem with DD.

now, give me a reason why i should after you deleted my 1st post yesterday.

if one does not have any business in a discussion that does not conern him/her, i'd like to think that one should not disrupt said discussions.
you don't own the PHPBB database nor code
you can delete what you what because you can, not because you have the right to nor own any of our access and speaking privallages
the only thing you paid for is the domain name and the FTP, and you're only renting them, they're not yours.
and i could care less about if you'd think you were right or wrong
but i don't want to hear the usual BS of \"our forum our rules we can do what we want you have no rights\"

because right now i decide whether to post or not.

so what have you say? why did you remove my 1st post?

btw i'm archieving this page online for future dangdang shoppers, just so you know.

don't bother with CS, they don't help with system errors anymore.

Charliewindson, thank you for informing the community of your issues with dangdang. I shall be careful next time I shop at dangdang. Please don’t feel bad that your post was removed. And also, dun get mad at the admin. These things happen. Sometimes, I have also experienced my own threads disappearing and then appearing again some time later…

Sometimes, there was an attempt to merge… and at another time, someone pressed a wrong setting and I wasn’t allowed access into areas that I normally would have access to. This is quite a convivial community, unused to comments that slur another’s character… or easy accusations. We welcome you with every affection and hope you will bear with some of the strange technical things that even Councillors (who are not part of admin but have been hanging around for quite some time) experience once in a while.

No biggie. You’re most welcome here.

            Hi Tamarind,

May I know how much is the Peeka agent fees and is it 7% of GST apply on item below sgd 200? I read the Peeka web but did not mention on the agent fees.
Is there any charge for local delivery in Singapore?

            Thanks

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dangdang which pretty much convinces me not to bother to try to order directly with a non Chinese credit card but to go through agents. I think you highlighted a very useful point that online shoppers need to be aware of. Nowadays most net savvy people are used to ordering online but not all websites are reliable. I try to do a search on reviews of e-commerce websites that I am interested in trying out or stick to established names. Even if dangdang does deliver the books eventually and sells books at a cheap price, it is just not worth the hassle of having to email customer service to deal with credit card or delivery issues. We are all busy people and I generally prefer a fuss free online shopping experience. Reliability and security especially with regards to credit card use are very important factors.

I think dangdang may be quite good if you live in China and can pay cash on delivery. However I am not sure it is ready to serve overseas customers effectively. This may be the case for many Chinese e-commerce websites due to payment gateway and delivery logistics issues.

On your complaints about the admin, I think you need to respect their right to decide how this forum is run as they may incur legal liability if they allow inappropriate comments. It is not easy to make this judgment call if you put yourself in their shoes. Hence I would advise sticking to facts and refraining from aggressive remarks.

                charliewindson,

I get the exact payment rejected error every time i used my Amex card. After i emailed dangdang and confirmed that my payment went through, i was not bothered by that error anymore. I worked for many years as a software engineer before and I understand that software problems like this cost money and time to fix.

I asked earlier whether you have emailed dangdang directly to request for a refund, have you actually done so before? I am interested to know whether you have proof that you asked but they refused to refund you. You can actually dispute your transaction with your credit card bank and that will cause dangdang more damage than posting here.

If you have read through every page of this thread, you should know that other people have also reported problems with dangdang and those posts were not removed.

There is a $5 service charge for every order. It is not the same as gst.
After they received the books and sent to singapore, they will inform you of the shipping charge and this includes local delivery in singapore.

                    empressplace,

Please note that agents may not be reliable. I wrote about using peeka but I also advise everyone to do your own research and use them at your own risk. Also note that if you buy from taobao using peeka, you are at risk of paying for pirated books. I am still going to order from dangdang using peeka.

Ordering online always has its risk, you must know how to protect yourself. I advise others to borrow from the library if you are don’t want to take any risks.

In the internet, TRUST NO ONE.

Concur with Tamarind's experience. I still get that error msg but am not bothered by it. When I lianas with DD, it usually the cs or even shendan email address, the gongdan email address is something new to me.

One experience I had was when I got DD to send to a hotel. The delivery guys failed to do that, payment was made via credit card. DD would only refind me when they see the books. It took time for the delivery guys to send the books back to DD. But once that happened, DD refunded the money to my credit card without delay.

The largest transaction I had with DD was more than 1k RMB, also no issues. Since then the amounts are smaller, and that's becos I have got a lot of books already.

Empress place, if you are worried about reliability, you can actually get Chinese books from mahayuyi at Bras Basah complex. Prices are much higher than DD (even with shipping factored in) but you get to browse through first. Actually, I rather trust DD than spree organisers - at least one is a listed co whilst the organizers are unknown to me. But each should only use the method one is comfy with.
