For my DS's school, CA1 result not included in the report book. In fact the school refers to it as class test.

Hi tisha & moonflower,Yes, it's included in the report book.
Thanks. DD came back & told me CA1 results will not be included in the report book so I was a bit surprised. :? Her FT said the reason is because it's not a true indication of the student's overall performance as there will not be oral, compo for CA1. FT told the class to treat CA1 as a wake-up call. :snooze: -

Errrr ....Heard from one of the teacher that is better to write at least 2 pages for normal CL and 2.5 pages for HCL.
Thanks for sharing this Brenda10
My Gal Wrote 3.5 pages in 50 min and the T say Still Not Long Enough ....

Huh?? That's really high expectation. My DS teacher told them target about 2 - 2.5 pages. Any longer might go out-of-point due to elaborate on wrong things or can't conclude in time (very quick conclusion as no time). Esp. under exam circumstances.

No CA - only tests, i think. Prelims 1 is in April. Prelims 2 is in Aug. Surely all will be in report book.

My Gal Missed Writing the Ending by 4 Characters ....
When the T say \"Times Up, Pens Down!\"
She Told Me Her T Marked Her Compo as :offtopic: Due to In-Complete Ending ....
I've Read thru Her Compo - She Got 2 Wrong Characters, and Score ....
8 Marks for Contents
Yesterday She Came Back, Feeling Very Discouraged and Told Me She Wrote Badly for Her HCL Compo, Her EL Compo ....
Now Just Had to Advise her It's OK to Get this Score, and Do Remember to Stop developing the Story Further when she Reach 3 pages and Must Conclude by the 4th Page No matter How Much More Ideas R there for her to Write ....
Sigh .... Really a Kill-Joy, But Exam is Exam ....

 [/quote]Seriously, a lot of kids mistook that it takes a long compo to develop the story and get high marks. That is a very wrong concept. What is needed is a tight plot with good language skill and you can get your due marks. A long compo runs into issues of what I discussed earlier (and you have seen it too in your DD's compo).
I felt that it is very impt to remind kid that in exam condition, plot must be fully developed by about 2 pages and then to draw all loose strings to a good close and end with a nice conclusion within the next half to 1 page. Any longer they will run the risk of insufficient time / get carried away. Not something they can afford in a PSLE condition.
