Just curious, why so many people chose question 3. I chose question 2 instead.

Interested to know, what was Qn 3 about?
for 2nd synthesis.

He did not keep his promise. It upset me.

The fact that he did not keep his promise made me upset.

        Is it correct?

it should be: The fact that he did not keep his promise upsets me.
it is 'upsets' cuz 'fact' is uncountable so must be singular

My son wrote 'upsets' too which is incorrect. Originally, he wrote 'upset' but he thought like you about 'the fact' bit.

The 'upset' in the question is in the past tense. Thus it should still remain as 'upset' (past tense).
I put upset at first, but then changed to upsets then changed to made me upset because it sounded more natural to me

question 2 is the ice cream which is going to hit the man
question 3 is about the old granny walking unsteadily towards the bus stop

I am pretty sure it is none of us believed what Amy said. This is my reasoning: Since the original question is in a single sentence, we do not need to worry about what action came first and what is the tense. But say a similar question in 2 sentences as shown below:

Amy said that it was true. We did not believe her.

Ans: We did not belive what Amy had said was true.

Since the first action occurred before the second and the second is in past tense, the first action is in past perfect tense.

However, this is PSLE, u never know what the answer may be. Anyone else has an idea about it?
