      Hi bellyhoney,

Sorry for the delayed reponse. I was away for a long business trip. Creative writing one week, English another week. They have 3 English teachers, so you may want to ask about the credentials of the English teachers and the MOE schools they had taught and let your child do a trial class to try out if she can fit with the teacher’s delivery style before confirming the sign up.

I believed their school’s policy on class size is 6. Because, a month ago, the centre’s supervisor called me for permission to allow 2 new parents’ children in P6 to join my girl’s Math class, increasing the class size presently from 6 to 8. I am okay with it. Shortly, I realised the new parents are both my male kakees…LOL. They told me they may want to give me call if I voted againsit their entry.

Hi can I just ask mommies here if you buy assessments books for your kids even though you have already sent them to tuition/enrichment centres? Or you don't buy them since they've already got tuition?

Tuition/enrichment materials + at least top school papers to practice. I do buy assessemnt books on top of that although my DD don't have much time. I may not ask her to do the entire book but I will expect her to do at least few exercises per week. My friend also does the same.

Tuition/enrichment materials may be enough but it may not cover 100%. Moreover, by exposing to top school papers, we can roughly gauge where we stand.

        Hope this helps.

hi thanks for your input. I was thinking which ones to buy ie assessments or school papers. I wanted to get assessments because it's usually structured in a topic-by-topic manner, yet at the same time I wanted school papers so that we can (like you said) gauge. hmmmmm.... Most probably I'll start off with school papers first and see how it goes. 😄

Hi parents, Mindstretcher at the newly opened 112 Katong Mall is opening a K1 class on Sundays from 5.15-7.15pm. This is a good P1 preparation programme that teaches both English and Maths. It is a very good class for it prepares the child in both English and Maths.

They need minimum of 5 STUDENTS to start.

                Hi,

my girl was from morris allen. She started there when she was in N1. In MA, she built confidence and used very ggod english such as back yard and sticky tape instead of scotch tape…but she picked up everything except reading. Upon realising this, i stopped her at MA and put her at I can read. Now, she will be completing I can read very soon and i want to place her in a holistic English centre that will help her with writing, compre, vocab, sentence construction and spelling. At the same time, i want her to be able to speak well ie using words like she did in MA.
Seeing from all the posts, i am guessing that TAS is the hot fav for now.
                1) Can i know from mummies out there if i can achieve most of the my objectives as stated above if i send my daughter there.
                2) Are TAS teachers native teachers or locals and if locals what qualifications do they hold?
                3) Any referrals for the Paya Lebar branch please

                thanks
Btw, for primary one do you think i should send my daughter to Morris Allen, TAS, British Council or just continue with I can read. For maths im sending her to MPM and i am very happy thus far. I just need her foundation of English to be just as good

                thanks

I’d like to find out more about Brainfit Classroom at Jurong. Wondering whether there is any review/feedback on this centre. The website looks very interesting. Was it effective for your children? My daughter is in P5 now. Thannks.

Can anyone recommend good creative writing class in Bukit Timah area for Pri 4 &5? They are generally quite good in their English but I want to "buy insurance" for their creative writing. Super KS but I am very stressed up for their PSLE!

Any recommendation for good English tutor in the East?

DD1 has been attending group tuition for over a year now, but grades hadn’t improved much (68-70). Tuition center is one of highly recommended on this forum. i must say the teacher is good, materials are good but class size too big. Don’t think is effective for my DD.

PSLE is just a couple of mths away, really desparate!!

Looking for 1-to-1 tutor, preferably current\ex-teacher or FT tutor who is still willing to take in PSLE student now.

Appreciate recommendations, no tuition agents pls. thanks.
