1) St Nicholas
2) CHIJ Toa Payoh
3) St Margaret -

No pain no Gain. As i can see from your words, chinese tuition once a week is that enough for a P6 students? Adding of English tuition and Science TUition is Only Just Because your son s results dropped then you looking for help from tuitor?? Are you sure you are really helping your kids using the correct way?My son will be P6 next year. Prior to this year, he only has Chinese tuition once a week because we do not speak Chinese at all at home. This year we added English tuition and Science tuition just because his results dropped from 90+ to 80+. How not to feel stress when getting to good secondary school is already hard enough but now there is IP and IP cut-off point is higher than O Level?
Why create another level of elitism?
If IP cut-off point is the same as for O level, wouldn't it be less stressful for parents and the kids?
Why you never exam and realize your own mistake ? BUt only keep saying anything about level elitism? Hey, it seems like you are not living in Singapore? How come you dont know this is a contury full of intellectual elitism? You are seeking for less stressful life? Go holiday la...Right? :siao:
Be grateful to those people who ever helped you before. -
To a certain extent, YES.

Agree definitely. But always expect a turn and steering on safely in vigilant and soberness spirit, taking heed that an accident can destroy everything.

YES it is...because it is a national examination at the end of 6 years of primary school. -
Despite whatever the ministers can tell us, PSLE is important because it is one of the key stepping stones in the long journey towards a university education. Only http://www.moe.gov.sg/feedback/2011/committee-on-university-education-pathways-beyond-2015/singapore-university-landscape/ will get a place in the local universities. To be part of this minority, students must demonstrate consistent performance to get to a good secondary school which can maximise their chance of making it to and past the O-levels and A-levels.
Is it really that stressful? Take a look at the recent news regarding the extent that South Koreans go through when it comes to sitting for their http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/southkorea/11227728/Planes-grounded-as-South-Korean-students-take-uni-entrance-exams.html. News of students overcome with stress and using suicide as their escape route accompany these examinations annually. Singapore is not unique in our focus on academic excellence to form the basis of meritocracy. Calls for PSLE to be scrapped or watered down overlook the realities of competition brought about by globalisation. Yes, we can argue that the pedagogy can be improved and subjects be expanded to include key skills such as leadership, management, entrepreneurship, aesthetics or even athletics so that these essential skills are not overshadowed or sniffed at by society. But ultimately, there must be some kind of measure to fairly evaluate the level of competency of students. We cannot run away from these national examinations as long as we hold dear our ideals of meritocracy. -
