My son is now P5. I noticed every year in his report book the sch computes a "Total" score, xxx/300. Does anyone know if this "total" score is calculated using the same PSLE T-score fomula ? If that is the case, it will be an indication of my child’s PSLE ability, right ?

        Hi joconde,

You should check with his teacher. In our school, we have the score out of 400 for 4 subjects (P4 onwards) and out of 300 for 3 subjects (P1 - P3).

          Lizawa,

My son’s sch is 300 whether it’s 3 or 4 subjects. Not sure how they compute the total score. Anyway, just curious, how do u estimate ur child’s PSLE T-score based on this total ? Is it possible at all ?

I’m now trying to gauge my child’s level and see roughly which sec school we can aim, and do some sch research 🙂

Some schools I know, tell the parents to calculate the total based on 300, ie. 75 as total for each subject. This means all subject has equal weightage Then, you get that total score out of 300. The estimated PSLE score will be plus minus 10 points. This is to take into consideration other factors such as the cohort's strength in the various subjects, difficulty level of the papers etc.

              Hi joconde,

The link below explains how the PSLE T-score is calculated.

              http://road-to-psle.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-psle-aggregate-and-t-scores-are.html

There is also a T-Score aggregate calculator on the same page. You can use that to estimate your child's T-score. Agree with lizawa...factors such as difficulty level of papers and the performance of your child in comparison to his cohort's will determine the score.

Hope it helps. Good to plan ahead! 😄

Hi - you should start getting him to practice even now according to the terms or even ahead of terms if he has been taught the topics. I stay in the west and I know that there is a stall outside NTUC Clementi that sells them. Should be about $55 or so for the 4 subjects.
