Is PSLE so important?

ChiefKiasu:
she should be awarded a 'KiasuKids' badge or something like that

Hi,
How about your P6 kids CA1 result?
My girl lost around 10 marks for her math test because of her careless.
Last year, she actually maintained her math score around 90 and not much careless mistake since P4.
Don't know why this round did so many careless mistake. Worry me.

The carelessness could be a sign of nervousness. Is she tense before or during the test? Try not to make a big deal of her carelessness this time, get her to relax a bit more and she may do better then.Hi,

Hi Chiefkiasu,
Thanks for your opinion.
She told me that she did not feel nervous before or during the exam.
I think I would have a clearer picture when she take back the exam paper. -
Hi fxchow
We will shock too when my boy told us his Eng CA1 result, for once he score 63. When I make him do the pass year paper he still did well scoring abt 80++.
When he got back his paper, my hubby go throught & realise that the paper was not a easy one. My boy was shock too with the score for his Eng and we have been putting in effort to his Eng. As for Maths & Science he is still doing well and maintaince A*.
Sometime I wonder should I push him more but looking at the load of homework his school is giving them I feel bad. Now he is focusing on coming RI Maths & HCI Olymiad Maths Competition.
Nowaday kids in school is stressful.
sigh

Dear fxchow,
My boy did fairly well for his 3 other subject but a shocking for his Maths. I am not sure what contribute to that but I must not rule out stress and tension. Is like so many things to cope and manage. Will continue to monitor him and give him whatever support and encouragement. I agree with Sally that nowadays, kids are extremely stressful in school!! -
Hi Morning!
Ya, I agree that now the school life really stressful for both students and parents.
I just lost control because of my girl yesterday night.
I extremely angry with her because she always finds excuse for her \"mistake\".
For instance, yesterday she took back her chinese spelling, and again not did well just because she totally did not go to learn it. And this time her excuse is her friend also did not learn. This made me mad  -
Hi, good morning!!!
I agree with you too that parents are as stressful, if not more than the students. Very often than not, we somehow are too protective over them.
My boy used to be very dependent on me but i have since gradually "let go" and train him to be independent and be answerable to his results. I explain to him what and where his "careless" will lead him to and if he thinks that’s where he want to be, i told him not to regret and say "if i knew, i should…"
To your daughter, maybe she thinks that learning chinese spelling is a chore and perhaps just showing her frustration. Talk to her, spelling helps her learn new words and that may help in her chinese compo and exam too.
Don’t get upset, cos once we upset, we tend to loose our sanity.
Take care!!
