Hi Frenchkitty,Thanks Desertwind!
Your son is in AM or PM session? I'm going to put him in 2nd session because 8am he still sleeping! I thought the 2nd session timing is more apt for us.
My son is in the PM session. Yes, timing should suit the child!

Desertwind, this morning I called up to enquire about the registration and school bus services (in case I started working and need the bus service)… the lady told me their vacancies always run out fast, and most parents start Q-ing as early as 6AM outside the school on registration day.
That is so kua-zhang… Thought you registered in May and still got the last vacancy?? -

Hi Hi!
Wah, this is so kua-zhang indeed! I also didn't know, told you I was quite a sotong mummy last year. It is good the admin. lady told you about the queuing so that if you are serious, you should ask the exact date for registration and then go for it, don't delay!
For me, last year I went around 20th May on a Friday noon and the admin. lady told me they have 3 vacancies left. But I did not bring any documents with me to register hence I told the lady I will come back the following Monday to register and pay. Who knows when I went back first thing Monday morning, she told me she is left with 1 last vacancy for the PM session! I got a shock as I almost missed it and she said she had 2 parents registering the previous Friday afternoon after I left!
So yes, it is better for you to register fast if you already set your mind on it!
For existing students, we have to sign up for the following year in February, I thought it is really kua-zhang indeed. School just re-open leh and we are still just settling in our boy!

In fact, quite a number of kids tend to switch from pm session to am session.

Ugh I'm so stressed. I just found out yesterday that I have to register my boy THIS YEAR for next year's pre-nursery class. And that there's no hope of him being in any playgroup whatsoever this year because I didn't register him last year? *gulp*
Anyone with kids in MMK? Any comments on the education system? You know, the preparation for Pri 1 etc stuff? I want to know if there will be hanyu pinyin, tingxie, spellign etc. And if there's class conducted in Chinese or everything's in English?
What abt things like the hygiene, mozzies, security (strangers coming in), safety, books/toys/learning equipment, attitude of the teachers?
I have a maid & MIL to help care for my boy, so I'm looking more at Kindys rather than CC. But I want to make sure that my boy is in a loving environment where the teachers care for the children & the school isn't just interested in asking for $$$ all the time. Btw the fees at MMK aren't cheap either

My MIL stays in Toa Payoh and she's helping to look after my boy with the maid. He's Aug 2009, meaning he'll be 18 mths next mth. I was so shocked when I learned that I have to register in a few mths' time for pre-nursery next yr! -
Register now to secure a place, but doesn’t mean that when u register late means there is no seat. If u can afford it, make a registration first, and when u later decided not to, you can still withdraw but of course, the reg fee is non refundable.
You can’t join the playgroup now because your boy is only 18 mths, pre nursery is only for if your kid is turning 3 this yr. -
Smurf,
You have a kid in SJIJ and at MMK?

Is anyone’s child taking the school bus to/fro MMK and Toa Payoh? I’m not sure if FIL will be able to ferry my son and i’m quite worried about the school bus.
For eg, does it take really long between MMK and Toa Payoh, even though it’s a short journey? Does the bus auntie take special care of the youngest and new todds? Are there seat belts?
Now that i’m thinking of sending him to pre-nursery next yr, i feel like in such a dilemma. I want him to start ‘learning’, have fun with friends,… But now i worry about him crying, being bullied, whether he’ll be well-cared for.
