What did you say to your child on the first day of school?
-
“Listen carefully to teacher, pay atttention, have fun. Mommy and daddy will be waiting for you at the gate”
-
Get a good seat because you will be sitting at the same place for the rest of the year
-
sleepy:

Heheh... actually, this is dependent more on physique than choice. Teachers will arrange the kids in ascending order - shortest sit in front. Throughout the year, there would be tweaking such that the weakest students will sit in front. -
Darn! Can’t really remember 'cause I was sick so mind was groggy. But she apparently enjoyed school and is looking forward to more next week. (I wonder if her enthusiasm will maintain when homework finally comes in.)
-
To ds: Have fun, I’ll see you at one.
To dd: Have fun. Remember, I’ll be a bit late then usual. Gotta pick ds first. -
to kids: mummy will pick you up later. U go to school and mummy go to work. kisss

Heyya guys..
Tks!
I lurve them all!
All your contributions made sense in a way that,
i realised when i first started as \"the first-time
kiasu-parent\", i too, unconsciously breathed out
instructions aplenty to my poor girl.
Which I'm sure, she'll only remember the first
few words i said. Hehehee..
After i finished the mouthful, i also do remember
being guilty of asking her, \"Did you hear what i
just told you?\" In her mind she must
be thinking, which of the lot was the \"just\"?
Not enuf with that, i also reminded her...
\"Remember what i told you? Remember ok..\"
Again, i think... (Only now it dawned on me laa..)
Which ones were supposed to be remembered, in
its hierarchy of priorities?
The things we do, huh.....
Ermm.. in this case,
the things we say.
So, i made conscientious effort not to over
emphasize anything much. I wud like to
trust her to know what's expected of her.
After all people, its 1st day, right.....
After all that silent worry over saying only
\"have fun\" on my end, it was so heart-warming
when she came home beaming, school was great
mum. I did have fun! And i missed you...
Awwww....
The next thing she said was, can we eat now?
I'm hungry.. And over lunch she readily told
me how her wonderful day turned out to be...
See!
She remembered the 2 words i said before she left
for school. Gosh, i'm proud of myself! Wuahahahaa! -
my words to my son:-
'today u K1, big boy already…have fun…dun cry ok?"
‘mummy, cry a little bit also can what…i like to cry…’ :x -
Heyya, mom2boys!
Ya actually made my day,
laughing out loud to myself like that!
Boy, your boy’s sooooo cute!
Like to cry, huh?

My daughter came home from second day of school and said that school was a bit boring. Yesterday, she said that the most enjoyable parts were recess and after school care playground time. -
to dd: Bye girl. See you at 6. Enjoy.
-
Heyya smiley,
Short and sweet! -
First day of school: Honey relax and enjoy urself ok, jus pay attention in class and everything will be fine.... (trying to reasure her as she is attending a new school tis yr....)
The next few days after hearing tat she has taken some tests (yes already!!): Wat!!!!How could u make such a simple mistake...... U r so going to enrichment centres...... and start doin the assessments I bought. Wat have u been doin the entire hols???? -
Last thing I said before watching my P4 son enter the school gates on his first day of school: “Wah lao… your bag so heavy… first day why so kiasu and bring so many things?!”
-
Heyya cluelessmum,
Waaah… Which school is your child in?
So poor thing, got tests liao…
If that happened to me, i would be like
so kan-cheong too…
Relax. Take a deep breath.
Assess your child’s difficulties.
Then, make the decisions based
on your child’s learning strengths
if you reali must send her for some
enrichment lessons, ya… No point just
dumping our children in an enrichment
centre that doesn’t really…well… enrich.
Errrm… if i may ask…
What was done during school hols aniwaes…? -

How can ChiefKiasu's son not be kiasu? -
schellen:
How can ChiefKiasu's son not be kiasu?
Unfortunately, kiasuism is not hereditary. He is a most laid-back kid. Makes me wonder what I have done wrong in his up-bringing  -
ChiefKiasu:
Ah, then you need to send him to enrichment class on kiasuism...and quick!schellen:

Nowadays in the morning, my last words to dd before dh sends her to school is : Hurry up! Take your things! Don't sit there and daydream! You only have 5 more minutes!
Sigh.... Mommy more kancheong than child. :stupid: -
Heyya schellen,
Guess kiasu-ism leads to kancheong-ism eventually…
Same-same wif me lor…
