CTong:
Unless your child likes music, if not, can give this school a miss. My 2 cents worth of comments.
I'm very much concern on the behaviour n discipline of the students there. Nearby my area I see particular sec sch kids..very disappointing.. Tats y I'm So worried. -
For those who are feeling sad to be posted in prcs , think on the bright side
this school has nice uniform

Most of my friends’ children secondary focus a lot on remedial/supplementary class for weaker kids but this school does not practice what they preached.

Hi, my dd is trying PRC via DSA. Hoping to get more info about this school. The school was in band 7 in 2011. Has the school’s O-level results improved since then? Grateful if any one can share their recent O-level results.
Has the school improved in any other aspects, such as increasing number of students getting into poly and good JCs? -
Hi VV Mother, is your DD in PRCS ?
-
Any parent who has/had a child in PRC? Could you kindly provide a review of the school ? Thanks.

I think your child doesn’t necessarily have to have an interest in/be good at music to join this school. The school is quite known for their fencing CCA so if your child is interest in that, they can consider this school as well. There are many other CCAs in this school as well. Also the child does not necessarily have to learn music for their 4-5 years here. They will stream into whatever subject combination they want and not only music, like Art, F&N, D&T or POA.
The teachers here are more than happy to help the weaker students by giving consultations. Usually the student has to schedule a consultation with the teacher, but depending on the teacher, they might arrange consultations, and those who want to go can go. On Fridays, the students have a 40min period for self-study before lunch. As your child advances to sec 4/5, there will be more lessons on Wednesdays (2h for different subjects) and after CCA step down, in term 3, the CCA time will be replaced with more lessons. Prior to the MT O Levels, there are days dedicated to MT lessons, as well as an extended MT lesson on Fridays in Term 1 & 2. There will also be night study after school in Term 3/4 if your child wants to stay back for revision/consultation with the teacher.
As for discipline, there are pretty strict rules on the students’ attire, and during attire checks the school is very strict about the boys’ haircuts, and whether they tuck their shirts in or not. Yes the school will not hesitate to punish those who repeatedly go against the rules. However some teachers do not really care much about students’ attire. For example, some students have multiple piercings on their ear. I think the students are fairly well behaved, though they can get quite loud during class and get quite rebellious for some. However they can be quite exclusive, based on experience. Sorry for such a long-winded reply 😅 -
@pastagirl03 thank you for the many info shared! The comments in this thread dates back to 6-8 years ago so I’m looking for more recent info. We live nearby and am considering this for my child. We prefer a nearby school and into performing arts bec that’s my child’s interest. We are considering Pasir Ris Crest due to its proximity, focus in performing arts and its psle COP in the past is just about the same range as Hai Sing. Thus students admitted are relatively in good academic standing.
I’m considering for Pasir Ris Crest and Pasir Ris Sec. I hope my child could make it. -
I’m eyeing this school as well since it’s one of the nearby schools with TAMIL MT and reasonable express cutoff. Would love to hear feedback from parents or alumni who r here and have something to share. The other choice would be HAI SING but kid would have to go to PCS for MT anyway
