schweppes:
After I got my KAi knife yesterday, I kaypoh and walked across to Tangs. The Z promoter told me that there were 4-5 sales on Sunday and 1 more Mon morning. :!: In fact at Taka itself, there was only 1 machine left (the display set) :roll:25hourmaid:
I think I should get my knife 1st before the machine then
LKVM:
Have you thought of the other way round? What if you got your knife, but the Z's gone? Then how?Yeah lor wat if the knife's are gone

Don't forget there are lurkers in this thread, for all you know, the Zs might be flying off the shelves before you know it!
My goodness, the power of KSP and word of mouse publicity
What?! When I was at taka last week the stock had just come in and there were at least 6 machines there.

schweppes:
That's very true, afterall Severin is a good German brand. It's really a good buy as it can bake twice the size of Z and at a more affordable price too.
precisely as long as some breadmaker :hi5:LKVM:

Zs gone, can get Ss, right? :scratchhead:
For me, it came down to space constraints. The Z is more space saving. I think when deciding which one to buy, must also consider kitchen top space. I decided to leave the breadmachine out in the open to remind me to bake more often. If keep in the cupboards, will be a case of \"out of sight and out of mind\". Really depends on each individual's needs.
My thoughts exactly. -
LKVM:
Do you directly add yeast or mix with anything before adding?
Just add the powdered yeast directly. -
Happy Mama:
I just bought it! Looks huge and very fresh.schweppes:
Anybody tried PH's cranberries? Are they ok?
not sure, shd be ok i guess
By the way, any reason why all of you recommend Prima bread flour? Any bad experience with PH Bread Flour? My first packet was Prima and subsequent was PH. Didn't notice any difference leh. :?
I was at PH and forgot to buy cranberries.

Btw is there any kind kakis online right now to give the brand name of the bread flour, yeast, butter for the loaf in single post so that I can start buying

1. prima bread flour (thats what a few a are using)
2. I am using Schweppes recommendation for yeast (the french brand, you cannot miss it when you go to the baking aisle)
3. for butter I use lurpak, but I think any shd do)
Hope this helps. Wait for others' input, then you decide
1. Prima bread flour
2. Fleischmann yeast
3. Presidents butter -

I am asking this cause some one dont remember who said some kinda yeast whether it was instant or dry one need to mix with water.. hence my question.. must do it properly lah 1st time so to impress DH :P
I asked that question because there are so many kinds of yeast around. Active Dry Yeast you're supposed to add water and sugar to activate. But the Z manual says to just dump it in dry and that's what i've been doing and my loaves are well-risen.Happy Mama:

LKVM, the machine comes with a recipe book. So all you need to do is follow and dump in the ingredients in the sequence and press START. In 3.5hours time, you will get warm fresh home-made loaf.
Easy peasy!!

Oh I see. I bought the yeast from PH, those small sachets in a box. I thought it's fresher this way as I have no confidence of buying the entire packet and transfering them into containers (afraid it will lose potency along the way)... and this time, I keep them in the fridge.

As for the yeast, you put them last. But you need to \"dig\" a hole and place the yeast there. They said salt cannot come in contact with yeast, so I spread my salt around the 4 corners...
Oh yes, very important, yeast cannot touch water!
All the best to you, LKVM! :celebrate: :celebrate:
Which brand yeast do you get from PH? I only saw the brown french one, a blue one and a red one. These are all instant right? Not rapid risiing? -
Happy Mama:
Cranberry loaf will be ready in 1 hour's time. Smells good. I cannot wait for it to be ready. Yumm yumm! This time I can slice it professionally with my new knife (provided I've got the skills). The lady at Taka told me slicing bread needs θ½»ε·₯.
The kai knife is VERY sharp. Just slice it lightly. Too heavy handed and your loaf will become like ham chin bang. -
Happy Mama:
:? :? Wondering if I should bake Butter Cake or Chocolate Cake using my Z machine, once Cranberry loaf is ready??

You're on baking overdrive! -
Happy Mama:
The Z recipe says All Purpose Flour, but PH does not have it, so I will be using Cake Flour instead. Hope it will not affect the results. Another this is, recipe mentions 2 LARGE eggs, but my eggs are quite small. Not sure if I should use 3 SMALL eggs, or stick to 2 SMALL eggs. :?
I think stick to two small better than 3 big.
Ok I shall attempt butter cake then! :celebrate: In the meantime, still waiting for my loaf to be ready.Happy Mama:

Why not try Butter Cake since I havent seen anyone try yet
