Doughnuts for tea for the kids. Totally unhealthy but I am on a mission to fatten DS up. Haha.

Along the way, I fatten a lot of other people as well. Me included 😒

Looks good! Temptation. How's the taste? Uber delicious too?

Yummy of course when fresh and still a bit warm. And since I used fresh oil, you don't get that used oil smell that most cake shop doughnuts will have. But as with anything fried with oil, it is best consumed on the same day, else it does have a bit of stale oil smell.

            Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a zojirushi mini breadmaker. If we make a loaf of white bread with it, how big is one loaf from this breadmaker.. how many slices? Is it difficult to bake white bread with this machine? My family always eat bread for breakfast. Recently I read somewhere that sometimes bread that we bought has 'something added in to soften the bread', that will cause harmful effect to health if we eat in long term (is this true or only hoax?). So I am thinking of getting a breadmaker to make my own. Thanks a lot
My Z loaf feeds a family of 4 within a day. I usually bake my breads in the late afternoons or early evening to be eaten for breakfast the next day. If there are leftovers from breakfast, I pack the extras for my kids' recess.

In fact, with the variety of recipes provided from the Z machine, u are spoilt for choice. I find that if I were to bake white breads, might as well get the store bought ones. Family faves are the mixed fruit bread (using raisin recipe), cheese bread, milk bread, honey bread and of course, the all time fave ~ chocolate bread

Oh... and if you need to get a bread knife, must get the KAI brand which u can purchase from Tangs or Taka. Costs abt $13 (if I remember correctly) Cheap and good πŸ˜‰

Thanks Schweppes!! Btw, what is the different between a bread knife and a normal knife? Is it sharper? Can I just use a normal knife to cut the bread, will the cutting be the same? :?

The normal knife has a smooth edge whilst the bread knife has a serrated edge. Initially, I think most of us use our normal knives but the end result of our breads after cutting .... uh.... looks very sad looking and deformed. Or at least mine does 😐

But after getting a proper bread knife, the slicing of the bread is so much neater and nicer looking. :dancing:

There are a couple branded bread knives around but can be very expensive. I recall seeing the Henckles brand retailing at $100+ :!: The KAI brand is cheap and good πŸ˜‰

A bread knife, as the name suggests is meant for cutting bread. You will not able able to cut the loaf of bread nicely using an ordinary knife. Hope that helps.
