Hi Village Girl
Try adding more sugar. For example, if the recipe calls for 2 tbsp, try 2.5 tbsp. Sugar is more effective in getting the bread to rise than yeast. -
Hi, michyms/pojo/pixiedust
I’ve being trying michyms’s recepi to test 3x… 1st 2x ready cunt made it…
I replaced the honey with sugar like what pojo told me…I made the bread straight away after putting in all the ingredients (in the right order; yeast at last step) and let the machine do it work… After 3-hrs, the bread turned out looks nice… the top was much softer now, but bottom still a little dense (30%)… ='(
Any Severin bread machine user here? -
Hi Yappy
Good to hear that there is some progress. At least the bread that turns out look nice. I believe the Severin bread machine has something like 11 or 12 settings for different kinds of bread, wholemeal bread, cakes and doughs for buns or pizza. Check the setting and make sure its set at normal bread. Should be 3 hours or so.
Also the baking pan comes with a metal attachment. This attachment could be removed for washing and is shaped like a ear. You need to put in the attachment into the baking tin before you add any ingredients. When the machine starts, the attachment turns to mix the dough. Just a wild guess but is the attachment in the baking pan before you add any ingredients?
Sorry if you feel I asked a stupid question. -
Hi, pojo shifu,
Ocoz I put the metal attachment if not how to mix the ingredient leh… Hahahaaa -
Hi Yappy,
That why I said sorry before your reply. Just covering all bases.
Why don’t you try adding a bit more sugar and set the machine to wheat bread which the whole cycle may take something like 3:40 instead of 3 hours? -
I do not use your brand of breadmaking machine but I remembered other mummies sharing that besides the importance of ingredient order, it’s important that the yeast does not have direct contact with the liquid and salt when u pour the yeast into the mix.

Hi yappy,
Mayb u can try baking the bread w oven (knead by hand or using the dough fn) juz to rule out the ingredients’ fault. If the bread turns out good, then the blame goes to the machine (may hv defect?).
Let us know how it goes… -
