Gr 6 - 8 has no pointe work but more on romantic style.... only intermediate foundation onwards that require pointe...

Hmm...My gal is doing G6 this year and is now doing pointe.

Hmmm.... that's strange :scratchhead: . My DD is currently at G6 too and has already completed the syllabus (no pointe work so far) waiting for next month's exam.

My girl is taking grade 6 exam in April this year. Also no pointe.

She said need to take another \"course\" to learn pointe. Forget what that course called. 😛

DD is only doing G3, so long way to go. But my friend whose DD is doing ballet told me in RAD, you do not really do pointe unless you are doing Vocational grades.

•The Graded syllabus (Pre-Primary in Dance, Primary in Dance and Grade 1 – 😎 provides a broad practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills.
•Vocational Graded Examinations (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2) provide an in-depth study of ballet and prepare students for a career in dance.

Graded and Vocational Graded Examinations can be taken at the same time, or one at a time which may explain why some girls do pointe in Grade 6 but not others. The ballet teacher may be introducing some of the skills of Vocational grades to prepare the girls ahead.

Grade 5 is under graded syllabus - no pointe work. As Ohmygosh indicated, only vocational graded syllabus will cover pointe work.

Dd taking Grade 5 exam coming April. No pointe work required for graded exam. Pointe work will be under Vocational Grade. But DD class already started using pointe and I know a few girls in grade 3 and 4 also started with pointe. Depends on kids and teacher will assess and decide those who can start early. 🙂

I see…thanks mummies for advising. Did not know that pointe is not compulsory in G6. dd’s ballet teacher did remind the gals that they must have good support to do pointe at the initial stage, otherwise they may get injury.

Based on the RAD website, they do not encourage ballerinas to begin the pointe at too young a age since the feet are still developing/growing. Some may bleed and bruise at the beginning however some may be lucky.

I have checked and confirmed the ballet shoe I bought was at SGD41 plus.

Went over the weekend to counter check, staff informed it’s correct price charged.
                      Never buy there again.
