All About Ballet
-
Hi so I live in Singapore and my daughter is 13 this year. My daughter is recently really interested in ballet and will like to participate in competitions soon. However , to join the competition team, she must go through an audition but she feel like she is lacking in technique. Her current ballet school currently only offers private lessons to those in the competition team. I recently laid my eyes on Cheng Ballet Academy hoping to let her attend more classes there. However, they do not allow students to attend ballet classes concurrently in two ballet schools. Should I just sign her up for the Cheng Ballet Academy until she improve before quitting it without informing them that she is attending ballet classes elsewhere or should i just not sign her up there at all but I feel like classes there are quite professional and she really want to learn there! What should I do!

It’s important not just to find a good school but one that fits your child. It’s good to find out more about the methods, the teachers and also the curriculum before enrolling. Cheng Ballet uses their own curriculum and not the RAD or CSTD method!

hello! I’m new here. Any mummies have reviews on Singapore Ballet Academy (SBA)?
My daughter is currently with dancepointeacademy and i was highly recommended to join SBA from my cousin who was with SBA many years ago for 8 years. The teachers have changed since… wondering if you know if the teachers are kind, fair and firm? Is it true that there will be performance chances with SDT?
Thanks!

Hi has anyone’s kid enrol in City Ballet elite program before ? Is it all ballet schools elite program students need to enrol in both Regular class as well as elite class ?
My 5yo girl is selected for their Elite class . Firstly she has Swimming classes on the same day as the elite class so I am not sure if I should push her to have two physical activity classes in a day…
However if I don’t let her join the elite program it probably means she will hardly have the chance and exposure to go for competition or performances to build up more confidence .
Any advice ? -
Thank you for the useful information, I learned a lot here.
