      HappyH, plumcake,

That book termed 'glass and ceramics' under natural materials. my other 2 guides categorise glass under man-made. (i only realised after reading from this forum).
having said that, one of the other guide and assessment book that i have also has error in other chapters.
i find the Casco Process skills to have a good summary/tabulation for reading purpose, but since then i got my boy to read at least 2 guides in one sitting to 'cross-check' the facts. 😓
just me being paranoid la. 😓
Thanks for pointing the fact. now I know, I have to read, understand first then explain to her..
If you still holds that book then go to page 44.
they gave the explanation as source of ceramics, glass, metal are from ground so they are natural by birth and after processing it will become a man made end product pots, cups, cars, etc,etc

So I think Its depend on the questions, If the question mentions ceramic pot then its man made.

      Thanks

On the 'glass and ceramics' topic, I have came across one reference book but can't remember which one, explaining that the material used to produce them come from natural resources but they need to go through a man-made process before they can be formed into glass/ceramic wares, so answers largely depend on the question being asked :whut:

Glass is made up of melted silica, which is found in sand. In volcanic activity or in lightning strike conditions, high heat is generated and melts silica. So yes, glass can be naturally produced. However, the glass most often encountered in questions, refers to glass in everyday household objects, which are all produced by man. Questions of such nature should be more specific, which unfortunately, is not so in school exam papers or even in assessment books.

Saw this parent's guide book while in popular. Any parent used them before?

These books empower parents who want to help their children build a firm foundation in Science. A summary that contains key concepts learnt in the chapter allows parents to have an overall understanding of each topic. Simple step-by-step, hands-on activities help ensure children understand Science concepts learnt. Guiding questions with suggested solutions serve to guide and lead children in understanding the concepts while doing these activities.

Labelling internal part of the egg like 'chalaza', 'air sac' is still found in PSLE questions as well as onion...should be under 'life cycle' (P4 I think)
