Labelling internal part of the egg like 'chalaza', 'air sac' is still found in PSLE questions as well as onion...should be under 'life cycle' (P4 I think)

Janet, I would like to hear your view on the following:
Different guides use slightly different terms (but the meaning is same). For eg, vegitative propagation or using plant parts. Are both answers correct? Of course, plant parts is easier to remember for the lower primary.

          Thank you in advance.

All other mummies' suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Maybe also check with teacher which is the preferred term. From what I know there are answer schemes given to markers on what is acceptable and what is not.

              HI HAPPYH,

Vegetative Propagation is the ‘scientific name’ for reproducing by using plant parts like seed & stem. Even my son at upper primary is using ‘plant parts’ because it’s easier to remember. For Science, once there is wrong spelling, the child will be marked wrong.

Ok. Thank you Janet. But I personally feel, they should not reduce the marks for spelling as long as it is clear to the teacher. But what to do? If the system requires them to memorise the spelling, then we just follow. :thankyou:

                      Hi Janet

Science marking is quite lenient with spelling nowadays. They are looking for understanding in the concepts instead of spelling.

Thank you G Tan. I am really happy if they are not very keen with the spelling.
