Hey mummies, another discovery from that guide book: it's a myth clarification - those creepy crawlies you see near a dead animal or decaying plants are not called decomposers. They are called something else sorry I really cannot remember what but these creepy crawlies only help in breaking down decomposition. Confused? So was I!

Detritivores - eg. earthworms, snails - they feed on dead matter and break them into smaller fragments. Decomposers are the ones that can further break these down to simpler form of nutrients.

Yep, no see no buy! There are 101 Maths / Science assessment books out there, and the questions in quite a number of them are just more or less the same save some tweaking here and there. Those questions will be repeated in the top school papers parents buy too. And repeated again when school teacher give / tuition centre provide. :slapshead:

Couldn't agree more. This is my second time as a Psle mom. Our kids will have a lot of exam practise papers from Sch n tutors. They will be pumped to the max in the next 90 plus days. I had half a dozen incomplete assessments books staring back at me at the end of his Psle. 😢

Went to Popular last night to take a look at that guidebook...but didn't buy. Hubby was like, 'Huh, buy again?' Decided not to get any more Science related books, be it assessment or guidebook. Think my son has sufficient to last him all the way to P6 next year.

Half a dozen is not too bad. Mine there are those assessment books since P5 still staring at me. Have not counted, but definitely > 1 dozen!

I’m trying to restrict my Science assessment books purchase. No time to do. Limited to 2 guide books so far. Actually, all guide books seem quite similar to me

English assessment books have an easier way out. Just buy in advance. No huge difference between p3 grammar or p6 grammar. But can’t do the same for Science since it’s by topic

Should discuss this over at the EL assessment books thread.... :imsorry: got carried away......

I hope to keep the Ace Science (lower block) for my daughter. Hope there won't be big changes by the time she goes to P3. As for guide book, the MC orange & Ultimate Science is sufficient...after all, I'm the one reading. Son should be able to finish his upper block (or at least) close to finishing Science next year. If not, keep for 妹妹.

                    Hi Sleepy,
It's much much harder to get Science assessment books. There is lower and upper block for Science. There is a steep learning curve for Science...spent a lot of time going through the diff titles b4 buying.

                    Hi Champion,
I found this title you mentioned. Is it suitable for beginners to Science or for upper primary ?
