I think they read "The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" too (can’t remember the exact title) cos my DD’s spelling list included words/sentences from it.

I would not want to let my boy read the book at home first, but would like to know the themes/topics so that can get similar books.

Yes, but be prepared to file a lot of worksheets, in my DD's case. She also had a supplementary grammar book with rules and qns inside. Sometimes, she is assigned work from that book.

during the Parent's briefing or Parent-Teacher meeting to see if they
display the books. Or may be can ask the teacher to show you a sample.

Are all schools using the same STELLAR contents? My DD's school is using STELLAR but not all the same as mentioned above.

Mine is RGPS P1 this year going to P2 next year. Maybe you can get more parents sharing this info at Primary Schools - Parents' Networking Groups - St Margerats.

The books are divided into different packages. So you have to know the package your child's school purchases.

Having seen my DS through this P1 year, personally I don't see a need to buy the books for home use (just my personal opinion)...

What I did was to refer to the learning sheets (workbooks they use together with the books) for the grammar that is covered for each book, and coach him separately based on those grammar/vocab guide books we can easily get from bookstores. The learning sheets would detail clearly the grammar that is to be covered so we can follow-up in that manner. I personally see a need to get additional worksheets in accordance to the sequence of the teaching, as the learning sheets are limited for practice.

Ultimately we want them to know how the learnings from the books are applied elsewhere in other scenarios or exercises, so I don't see a need to repeat going through the big books with them.
