Its endless fun working with a topic on animals,

cause they're really a lotta things we can introduce
to children within this just one topic. Young children
are easily fascinated by the simplest things in life...
And the simplest of activities..

Here's one.

Use wild animals puppets to teach animal movements.
If you have animal sounds on CD even better, more
realistic. In speech and drama lessons, puppets are
usually the highlights... and masks too!

Again the puppets do not have to be expensive if you
do plaln to get some, and they can also be DIY with
your child. Just like this one.

There are all kinds of funny experiment on YOUTUBE. Just search through it. Also, when I teach my oldest boys science, I have the computer on to google for stuff that might supplement what is taught in the school homework.


Sometimes, the books don’t have pictures when they talk about certain things and the web is so useful to show them these missing pictures.

Of course must double check. Everything you read or see on the web must take with a pinch of salt.

Below is a short write up about my teaching methology

Many students complaint that the teachers are lousy, notes are not concise; the irony is that some complaint that the notes are too detailed. Some complaint that exams are too hard, some complaint that they are too easy, some feel that it’s too hard because it’s too easy.

There are things in life you may not agree. But the least you can do is to accept them. Regarding teachers, some are better than others. That's the way it goes in life. Regarding notes, every student has difference preference to the exact kind of notes they hope to receive. The solution is to customise and write your own notes.

There are two parts to my lesson – concepts explanation and problem solving.

I will prefer to first go over the physics concepts and I always give numerical examples to support the concepts -- in a way that's problem solving -- and I show demonstrations to further support the concept, because seeing, obviously, is believing. I try to make you see through the dumb equations and admittedly my methods are sometimes somewhat different from the other teachers. I try to inspire you and at times I try to make you wonder and think.
And I want to keep it that way. The second part of my lesson is problem solving. I think that concepts explanation and problem solving are complementary. The difference between the two is that I will take 80% of the responsibility to ensure that you understand the concepts, but you must take 80% of the responsibility to master problem solving. How do you do it? You must digest the extra questions that I will be giving you. It's very important that you make the homework part of your culture, that you study the solutions.
Believe me, they are truly excellent solutions, not cut and dry.
They give you a lot of background.
If you digest those solutions, then the concepts will sink in.
How do you know if you are improving? How do you know if you are on the right track? I will test you! You will have a 30 minutes short test after every topics. You will soon realise that for all the hard work you and your teachers put in, you only have 30 minutes to perform. You will soon learn to perform under stress, under exam conditions. I wil make sure you improve. When I give my test review, I will highlight the concepts. You will discover your weakness and improve. One day, you will realise that every little problem I am giving you is extremely simple.
Conceptually, they were not so simple.
But from a math point of view, they are trivial.
I have made it sound so easy, but when you are trying to do it, it’s going to be crazy. However you are not alone. The initial part is always difficult, but it can only be easier soon, sooner than you can realise.
