Teach Less, Learn More

Yah. Super upz.
I should start soon on my son, if i were to catch up. *pant*
 I'm guessing what she meant was that she's teaching concepts via teachable
moments and ready manipulatives she already has at hand, hence the learning
is via learning thru' play. The super mommy can come in to address this should i
stand corrected..
Well yes, indeed.. this IS the KS forum. :celebrate: -

Actually, I find teaching the concepts required according to the p1 syllabus to my 2yo quite fun. Not exactly work to him, bc he gets to take out cubes & weighing balance and a load of other manupilatives. So to him, it's like a game. And it helps that he can read well, so it's not difficult to teach.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! :salute: -
Ksi... you mean she totally tipped and flipped the bar?
I suppose she is able to spend more time with her little DS since the others are
all grown up liao. So baobei gets all of mommy's attention. -

Actually the \"lessons\" only happen like once in a week or even once in 2weeks. And I used the singapore math books by yeap ban har. I just go through it as guidance - all required concepts are there. He can't do much \"assessment\" books since he can't write much other than draw circles & lines. And yes, it's mostly manipulative-based, but he can do what is shown on the books with some help. eg.circle the correct answer or match, etc, since he can read. To him, it's fun, lah.Ksi... you mean she totally tipped and flipped the bar?

Reading the threads in Enrichment Forum makes me  . And Phankao's sharing makes me wonder if I have been living in a well. My then expectation for my firstborn was to be able to count 1-5 by three years old. Phew, I feel greatly relieved that my children no longer belong to the so-called 'critical-period' for teaching reading (in English and Chinese). Can't imagine the tremendous stress I'll be under if I were to play catch up. :faint:Yah. Super upz.

LOL - I never had any goals for all my 4 kids, not even being able to count 15 by 3 years old. In fact, I didn't even go through any stress in the process of the current \"baby\" (the 2yo) getting to read CL & EL. It was effortless - the beauty of early exposure. I actually wrote out a long note on the process of his reading journey. Maybe I'll post it someday when I have time. -

Without goal setting, your No.4 is already so formidable! With goal setting, he will be even more :!:

Not count to 15 lah, only 1 to 5 by 3 years old.

Definitely agree that early exposure will help babies/toddlers learn quickly, especially word recognising. I remember while making a feeble effort to introduce Chinese words to my 3 year old via wo hui du, my 14 month old picked up all the words in ๆ็ๅฎถๅบญ and ๅจ็ฉ within 5 days, just by staying close by. (No flashing, just pointing at the words and pictures.) But lazy me didn't bother to continue on. Or I should say that is not my idea of learning. Perhaps because I have never actively made them learn or use the language, they simply love it. Early Feb this year, my K2 couldn't even understand whatever I said to her in Mandarin. But just last week, she walked up to the waitress and requested for a fork in Mandarin at a restuarant. And while reading the Berries books, she also pointed out that ็ has two different pronunciations, depending on the words it is paired up with. All these done pretty effortlessly too.In fact, I didn't even go through any stress in the process of the current \"baby\" (the 2yo) getting to read CL & EL.
