I’m glad that DS actually came home today without any homework!! It’s a good thing the teachers are giving occasional moments of reprieve.

So it was a good day to catch up with a bit of rest and do a bit of tuition homework as revision. I have chosen DS to spend his time doing tuition rather than supplementary classes because I find I can work more closely with the tutors than with school teachers.

When DS was asked to do his 4th chinese essay last weekend when he didnt’ receive the 2nd & 3rd essay back from the teacher, I put my foot down and wrote a note to the chinese teacher that I expect to see the marked essays before I get DS to do the 4th one. No point to keep doing homework but not get marked. Learning only takes place with feedback. His chinese teacher quickly called me to explain that the essays were being reviewed by the VP and returned the 1st & 2nd essays today. So i got DS to write the 4th essay today.

I’m glad the school teachers are wiling to see my rationale about homework and she appreciated that I was monitoring DS’ homework closely.

DS still manages to get to bed latest by 9.45pm every night and at least go to the playground at least 3 times a week. He has not fallen sick so far and I’m most happy about that. A healthy body is needed for this marathon.

The way I define success for this PSLE year is that DS is well-prepared to do his best + our mother-son relationship grows. It would be meaningless if he’s well-prepared mentally but physically, emotional & spiritually he’s drained and our relationship deteriorates. I don’t want to enter into DS’ teenage years with him holding bad memories about his PSLE year & hating his mother. I want to him to enter into his teenage years recalling he was well-supported, loved and having confidence about doing his best.

Hey, I agree with you on this. It's so much easier to work with tutors than school teachers. With tutors, I can follow up in those areas son is weak in. School teachers may not be receptive when I ask questions.

Giving my son Vit C every alternate day and making him drink lots of liquid - soup, juice and water.

Hey, my DS is also one of the tortoise moving around slowly without knowing that time is precious. Sigh......really hate the feeling of pushing him every second. How sweet it will be if only our ds can be independent in their studies. :please:

Son complained to tutor he has NO life. I have no life too...mornings I have to plan kids' revision for the evening and when to get tuition work done. Have not gone anywhere except supermarket.

dd also does not bring home lot of hw lately, even these last few days almost no hw 🙂 either she has done it at school or there isnt any hw given by school so yeah no problem for rest & sleep early n also play time 😉

However most of her hws (if not all) are marked by teachers n parents need to sign on each marked hw n work sheets. As for MT compos, i rarely see any compo marked by her mt teacher however her compo trainer who teach compo during mt supplementary class mark her compo at least once every 2 weeks (mt supplementary classes are especially allocated for learning & practising compos for at least 3 months), by God's grace my dd already breakthrough from 0/40 score for mt compo to 25/40 so its a good start, and the miracle part is she used to hate mt especially compo but now she love doing compo even ask her trainer to allow her bring home her reference files so she can practise at home, i have to stop her frm practising it daily as she has 3 other subject to focus on... 😂

Talking about healthy body, I find giving Sambucus to be highly effective as an immunity booster. It’s made of elderberry & echinacea. My kids hardly fall sick even during exam period. My DS has not had flu for 3 years now. On top of Sambucus, I give multivits & omega 3. Exercise & adequate sleep are also the other 2 pillars of immunity.

Where to buy Sambucus ? How does it taste like ? My dd hardly falls sick, but this year she breaks record, 2 times within 4 mths.

Hi whitety, I buy all my supplements a US-based online shop at http://www.iherb.com You can use my discount code LUY703 and you get US$5 off your first purchase. I get a bit of rebates for referring you. It's shipped via DHL and you get it in 4 days and it's worth it if you buy like US$100 or more of vitamins and use DHL. Otherwise if you buy a few items, you get shipping via US postal service & you get it in 2 weeks.

Comparatively, price difference is anything from 30-50% price difference from what you will get at Vitakids or other local shops. I've bought all my supplies for past 2 years already and so far very good service from iherb. They pack stuff properly to prevent breakage and refund you if anything breaks. No questions asked.

Honestly, after I put my kids on supplements, I've seen a great difference in their health. I also give them probiotics. When your immunity is weak, the stomach health will be one of the first signs.

Taste-wise Sambucus is a little sweet - like grape-tasting. There is another product called Sambucol and that has only elderberry, no echinacea. My kids prefer taste of Sambucus. My 3 older kids have no problems so far with the taste. I got 4 kids lah and my 4th baby is already on baby DHA!! My DD is also the weakest partly because she doesn't exercise as much as my boys. So while you give your DD supplements, it must be complemented with good sleep & exercise.
