DS has a lot of exam papers from his school as workhome this week. Could be prelim exam from other schools (2011 or 2010) becasue past year exam questions from his school were already practised in class before the prelims. I am sure the teachers have no time to set or compile new questions. QUick way ? My guess; exchange their exam papers with other schools especially for schools within the same cluster.

It is important to know why there is lack of motivation. (a) For some it is because they cannot do some subject well. If they are good at something, they want to do it more. If they find it difficult, they give up. One way is to be selective with assessments questions, going for questions that are easy, and gradually increase the diffculty level. (b) For others, it might be because his friends don't study. It is not cool to study. (c) Too little pressure from parents (d) Too much pressure from parents (e) etc.

I also suggest reading the book \"PSLE Survival Guide for the Family\". It is about a mischievous (a not really motivated) kid taking PSLE. It uses very simple English. Try reading it as a family. This is much cheaper than those motivational camps. Being a book, you can read it several times over several months. Perhaps, this can bring a sustained impact with little cost.

Just bought a copy last night and finished reading it. The main character \"Joey\" and my DS is just so very alike in almost every way. Difference is \"Joey\" made it ......mine ????? Getting my DS to read it now that I'm done with the book.

I do have the book "PSLE Survival Guide for the Family". My son finds this book so funny! Now the pests in the house can be part of your story at home

Some of the pointers in this book are very useful. I almost wanted to type them out and paste in front of my son’s table to act as reminder. No point talking too much, at this age, they may find you naggie.

I always tell my sons "Without a plan, a Dream is just a Dream". So no plan and effort in your study, your Dream school is just and forever a Dream!

Just in the process of typing out some of the advice and decorating my DS’s study room with them tomorrow morning!

Hope it’ll be a constant reminder for him.

              Chenonceau:
I am looking to collate TOP school-developed Chinese Language oral materials. The materials I am interested in are specifically...

              (1) Pictures
              (2) Picture description model answer scripts
              (3) Chinese dialogue model answer scripts

If your child is attending a TOP school and you are interested in getting OTHER top schools' materials, would you kindly PM me? I will arrange to give all successful contributors a full set of the materials free.

I will be requesting for an emailed photo/scan of an excerpt/partial picture from the scripts you propose to contribute. This will allow me to evaluate the material for the standard and quality I am looking for. This is because I have gone through a few schools' materials and realise that not all schools produce the same high quality.

Once I have compiled a set of high quality Chinese oral materials from 5 top schools, I will start a thread in product offerings to retail these materials. I don't want to have to photocopy materials for everyone, free. At the same time, I will post the list of the contributors who will each have a full set of the materials... and you can approach anyone of them as well. If they are willing to give free, then good for you.

I don't know if this initiative will result in anything... but I will keep the community posted of its progress.
              This sounds great 😄

Mry DD1 will only take PSLE in 6 yrs time.

My question is, do authorised publishers only publish the last five yrs papers?

Is there a need to compile ten yrs series on our own or five yrs good enough?

                  TIA

I personally think 5 years is enough as not sure when MOE will change syllabus.

                      Hi SAHM_TAN,
The authorised publishers only publish PSLE papers in the last five years. However, they do not publish the complete set of PSLE papers. Only selected questions over the 5 years will be published.

It sounds like a good idea to compile your own 10-year series but bear in mind the syllabus might change over the next few years and some questions might not be relevant by the time your DD is in P6. If you intend to compile your own 10-year series, you will need to keep abreast with MOE changes and may need to sieve through the questions and cross out questions that are not applicable at that time. 😂
