2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

James Ang:
Next year is Dragon year, competition will be stiff. The best policy is to start preparation early and learn the Maths concepts well. Looking at the PSLE Maths papers for this year, the concepts are commonly tested. A good foundation in models and heuristics methods will help the primary level students do well in future PSLE maths exams.
You remind me of Prof Trelawney from Harry Potter.
Anyway, what is the ur official verdict on the PSLE maths 2011 paper regarding the level of difficulty? Asking this since you started the other thread on prediction... -
This year’s PSLE Maths paper is a balanced one with good questions that test students’ overall concepts and ability. A well prepared and diligent student will do well in the PSLE Maths exam.

I think, next year's PLSE will start on 27th Sept 2012, 5 weekdays before 4th Oct when the school celebrates Children's Day. :nailbite:
Next year Children's Day is on the 5th Oct so PSLE will starts even earlier? :yikes:
I heard that there are quite a number of questions on Guess and Check in Maths Paper 1. Perhaps it will be easier if the kids know how to use algebra. -

There are a lot of PSLE Maths Q posted in the PSLE 2011 discussion thread and PSLE MATHS 2011 thread. You could compile them now before they get burried in the fast moving pages. You might get more Q than the ones that will be published in the MOE booklet next year. So hurry up :siam:
Hi Tisha,
I would like to compile all these questions but may you advise how to do it? You cut and paste on words file? Or another good method to share? -
Hi Mummies,
Our little dragons will be sitting for PSLE next year.
Hope the mummies whose children are done with this can contribute their experiences and advice...we will be very very appreciative. :thankyou: -

According to my ds, his teacher strongly discourages algebra.

Yes, I understand that if they use algebra, the marker may not award marks for working if the answer is wrong. But I was just thinking that it is a useful tool for the kid to use algebra in MCQ questions and for checking.

Hi 8228, do you know the result for that?[/quote]Reasons - not able to grasp the concept, may not get the working marks if the answer is wrong.
