That's what this thread is for - to provide support and encouragement to all KSP parents especially those whose child is taking PSLE this year, isn't it ?

I have friends whose children Taken PSLE before told me about the stress level. Only when 我们亲身体验,then we understand what they meant then!

Am glad to have find support here !

        :grphug:

要亲身体验, 才能真正experience. My Chinese really gone case liao... :rotflmao: Come Oct 2, I can finally lift that big stone off my chest.

You mummies are really a great bunch of jokers. Thanks for the encouragements & light hearted moments. We need to recharge ourselves here before we start work later (when our dss & dds come home from school 😂 ). I tell my friends that once dd reaches home, my real work begins ............ 😄 . My P3 ds is the distraction 😆 . But when they get on each other's nerves & he starts to nag at her or quarrel with her, I get all my weapons out & work on him & at times on her too :frustrated: . Otherwise in terms of work, thank goodness I don't have to worry about him.

Dd has to stay back most of the days for supp til 4pm. Sometimes I wonder if it works, but she told me it helps a lot...they do oral practice, besides past year papers. She refuses to skip herr class, I hope she make a good judgement.

I worry more on her science, I think it's not easy to score. My dd understand the concept well enough and i think she get the correct answer (section B), but sometime mark is not awarded due to rephrasing problem. For example:

There is a graph shows 4 different materials that were placed in a container of boiling water and their temperature changes over time were measured.

Qn: based on result provided, explain why material x is poorer conductor of heat than material w.
Dd ans: the temperature of materials x did not change as fast as material w.

Apparently it was a wrong answer and mark not awarded, although the correct answer is: It took longer time for material x to reach the same temperature of material w.

Based on the above example, I think it is not easy to do marking myself...if I were to mark the above, I surely gave the full mark of 1 mark. But little I knew it not suppose to be the case :scared:

So for me, encourage dd to do revision and let teacher & tutor to mark...answer must exactly same as almost word by word before give herself mark.

For science MCQ, it looks straightforward to mark, but in actual fact, there is explanation required for every question. OE is worst, bcos the answer has to be in sequence…even if keywords are written but not in order, the marks will not be awarded.

My daughter is in P2. The Chinese language standard for PSLE is really difficult…when son has prob, I ‘arrow’ him to hubby and the poor boy is directed back to me again bcos hubby said he doesn’t know. So trial and error…but make a note to ask tutor.

                Honey,
When my kids return home at 2, that’s when REAL work begins. I sit between them or they will fight. PSLE finishes on oct 2. Don’t know when gal’s SA2 begins, but I should have some energy to focus on her…whatever is remaining. Prelim Orals next week.

I agree with you that marking science paper section B for our chn is not easy. Other than the key words for each topic, the answers have to be specific - like for your dd's case above - her answer 'temp did not change as fast' does not indicate if it took longer or shorter time and that is deemed as 'not specific enough'. I think marking section B doesn't have to be word for word as the answer key - as long as the key words are in and they are specific and have linked answer to the question, should be awarded the marks - (just my two cents worth)

I agree with that. But as the above qn, I think \"not as fast as\"= \"slower\"= \"takes longer time\"....no scientific keyword, just different phrasing of sentence :?

If mummy is the psle marker surely chd happy, \"I know, u know\" I'll give you the mark
But mummy isn't, so dd got to learn to follow the rules....

Prelim oral next week...then the rest follow on :rahrah:
Hurry up! can't wait for 3 oct 🕺

Everyday, I am looking at son's July-Sep time-table and wondering how to squeeze in time to revise :frustrated: ...esp after the Prelim. Feeling like some celebrity's nanny as I'm liaising with one tutor or another to rearrange. CAN'T WAIT FOR OCT 2 !!!

I feel sure that what the school and his tutors are doing is all preparing him for PSLE, so you can just focus on the parts that aren't being covered (shouldn't be much) or need more repetition.

What am I saying :slapshead: :stupid:
Actually, I'm trying to see how to allocate time to get homework done and to rest. I've got to hands-off coaching him bcos he is well covered.
