Hi, my dd is also going to be in pri6 next year. As it is the dragon year, I think that maybe the psle will be harder than usual. Is this a disadvantage or an advantage? πŸ˜“

Also, I have learnt that the smops will give you an advantage in the dsa. But my dd havent started learning maths olympiad yet. we made a it point to start to learn maths olympiad during the december hols using purely maths olympiad books from the popular bookstore. Is it too late to start? 😒
it is a bit late, smop is held in april

Is your son's Math good? If it is, then he might do alright if he acquaints himself with some MO questions now. To use Math for DSA you would need to do very well. Even an SMOPS Platinum doesn't guarantee you a DSA offer. Is your son planning to apply for DSA under Math domain? Be warned that he'll face tough competition especially as he's never done any Math Olympiads before.

DSA in 2012. NMOS is for P5 n below so too late to participate. Also Annual Mathlympics organized by ACS(I) for P5.

Possible to participate in SMOPS organized by HCI(HS) and Mathematics World organized by RI during P6 in 2012.
But this yr, the SMOPS date crashed with NUSH open house.
RVHS Math Challenge for P6 held rather late n certs given late so not possible to submit with DSA application.
There could be other math competition that I m not aware of.

From my experience with DS dsa, the math competition results may not be the key factor taken into consideration to award a CO but the training he received from his primary sch for math olympiad helps him to improve his maths a lot.

Dun worry, I trust MOE has nothing against Dragons so will not purposely make it hard for dragon-year kids by setting harder than usual papers.
That was why I kept telling myself in yr2009 (DD psle) tt MOE has nothing against \"cows\" when most of the papers were difficult tt yr.

The rest of the papers weren't a walk in the park either.
