      HWBW:

Yesterday, DS's teacher mention can't use correction tape. This morning I removed it from his pencil case, and this make him crying, and DH blamed me make son upset. What to do? DS is so depend on the correct tape. :stupid:

Hello dear... I would not remove it if I were you. I would have removed it 6 months or 1 year ago and got him USED to it. Right now, the eve before his exams, his entire work habit and process revolve around the tape... without it...

      (1) he will be more anxious and won't be able to focus

      (2) he does not have the habit of being neat and may lose even more marks because his work is too messy to be legible

      (3) there is only a SMALL chance that the correction tape will peel off. In contrast, there is a 100% chance that removal of correction tape so late in the process will mess with his ability to focus. If a child cries, there is often a good reason that adults should not ignore.

      (4) you might get blamed for the rest of your life if your child does badly

Making such a big change so last minute is as bad as MOE taking away PSLE exam one month before PSLE and saying that everyone will be randomly allocated to secondary schools. No one is used to it. Instead, if MOE wanted to make this change, they should announce it at least 4 years in advance. If you wanted to take away his correction tape, you should have announced it 6 months ago and helped him get used to working without it.

I hope I have not offended you. I just worry for your child's emotional wellbeing.

PSLE rules don't state that correction tape cannot be used. If I were you, I would hug my child and let him go in with his tape even if Teacher has discouraged it. And I will tell him \"Mommy says it's ok my love. There is only a small chance that the tape will peel off. If it does, too bad. It affects 1 or 2 marks. If you are distracted by having no tape, it affects the whole exam. Go, my love. Mommy thinks it's ok.\"

      Totally agreed with you.

Even though DD has already taken her PSLE last year, I agreed what you said is really true.

DD is not allow to use correction type during test, exam etc in her secondary school now.You can see that she fumbled during her exam and her whole work is so untidy.

However, after six months of training without correction type, she is fine now.

All the best to all the students here taking PSLE tomolo, jiayou and give your best!!!

      Best regards,
      Lynn

Has your DC's school arrange the seats for the exams? My DD did not go to school today, and am worried that she does not know which classroom and seat she will need to go tomorrow. Anyone having the same situation?

            Thanks

My son has been unwell for the past few days. So he is resting at home today and skip the briefing...have informed his FT and was informed there will be teachers around to help with seating arrangements.

Gave him panadol, flu and throat medicine to rest last night...but think he is really under stress as he was crying in his sleep. I feel so heartache.

My heart goes to you! Wish your son and you recover soon. Check with Doctor which medicine better not to take in case of causing dizziness. :pray :pray

My sincere apologies for ranting. I know all of you also have kids sitting for PSLE 2moro.

All the best to our kids. We know you have put in a lot of hard work these past 9 months. This is effort.

To all the 12 Year Olds that log in here because they are such GOOD children who WANT to do well here is some advice from a psychologist...

                  (1) Stay calm. Just because everyone else is squealing their stress doesn't mean you have to. The more you think you are stressed, the more stressed you will be. That will interfere with your focus especially if you cannot channel your energy properly.

                  (2) Do your best. Whatever will be will be. There is a measure of LUCK in every exam. If you don't do well, it DOES NOT mean you are dumb. You should NEVER let any exam tell you you're stupid. Never lose faith in yourself because faith can move mountains.... if not now, later in life. Never lose faith in yourself.

                  (3) Know that there are many many Mommies and Daddies on this forum on the sidelines to cheer you on.

                  (4) Know that whatever stress your parents pile on you, they do it because they love you. Look past their scoldings and see their love for you. This will give you strength in the darkest hour.

                  (5) If the exam is difficult, it is difficult for EVERYONE. The silly PSLE is a bell curve. It doesn't matter how many questions you can't do as long as even the best in the subject ALSO doesn't know how to do.

With many kisses and hugs from Aunty Chen, go face your PSLE like a Warrior King/Queen. No fear.

Xiaohu[/quote]Cancellation. But first, try to think before writing. Also, we used a different colour pen when things get too messy. After some months of practice, DS was neater and so didn't need the different colour pen anymore.
