        qns 12:
The report said that the huge sum of money sent to the flood victims _______ mostly by Singaporeans? (the qns is something along this line)

        1) had been donated
        2)were being donated
        3)have been donated
        4)was being donated

the words in red (sent to the flood victims) considered addn info, need not consider.

so : The report said that the huge sum of money was being donated mostly by Singaporeans.

not : The report said that the huge sum of money had been donated mostly by Singaporeans.

if u want to use \"had been\", then the sentence should be :
The report said that the huge sum of money that had been donated was mostly by Singaporeans.

        hope this helps.

Now I faint.... :faint:[/quote]why?? did i say anything wrong??

        correct me pls...

So tricky..hmm, my kid said he looked at the word 'said' as in the report said, that shows that part is past tense, but the donations came before the report came out.

Picture or the other one on the library? If picture, it should be 2 and if the other one, it should be 3..

should be question 3, my dear...

btw, u can confirm this by checking psle booklet, the specimen paper behind... i'm quite sure the continuous is question 3..

q1 is situational, q2 is picture, q3 is continuous..
