Yes, went school shopping. Quite depressing.

With DS’s score, many schools that he can qualify is a bit of a culture shock for him. Like he said, didn’t look anything like his Pri school. The 2 that he liked, both also need to appeal and pray hard cases.

This choice of school thing is like a heavy stone I’ve been carrying about since last Thursday. Hopefully DS will grow up from this experience.

Like there wasn’t anything to be stressed over, DS is starting to misbehave by deliberately irritating the younger one and causing a lot of havoc at home. Maybe acting out as a way of stress releasing for him, but it’s seriously not helping since he’ll just end up getting scolded. Hiaz…

 Yesterday I felt so insulted!

Was at an open house enquiring about possibilties of appeal and chances of success. The teacher was very polite but as she was answering me, the VP came along and overheard what we were saying and the score. She behaved like it was a joke. She gave out a laugh, shaking her head and said no, no, no! Not possible. What lousy EQ! As if we were more than 10 marks away or trying to appeal from Normal to Express!!!

I'm sure they have DSA cases who might have gotten the same score or worse!

        We left right away.

Fifiyeo - the VP has extremely low EQ indeed! How mean :gloomy:

The school culture is not welcoming and nurturing so it's good that you walk off. For all the VP knows, your DS may reach greater heights than her students one day. Don't give up hope, go find a more suitable school with better culture. Jiayou and hugs to you! :grphug:

The school we visited yesterday made us feel welcomed...esp since you guys know how we are still feeling at the moment...but the warmth is crucial especially to my son. So I feel that we should place it as 1st choice since it's 2 points below his score.

I have not been this calm and collected...but it was because of a friend's encouragement that I had to look forward. The consolation is that he will be in express stream. So brave on lah... :rahrah:
This time, luck is not on our side so we just forget about all the unhappiness.
PSLE is over...the critical year is over...whew !!!

              Hey fifi,
It's indeed a blessing in disguise that person lacking in EQ showed true colours...if your son had entered, it would be another painful 4 years.

Janet - happy for you to find a suitable school. Your attitude is fantastic and will be a good example for your DS, showing him how much you support him. Boys bloom later, don't judge him by that 3 digits. We have personally seen so many examples of boys who bloom later and are so successful in JC or uni despite not doing well in PSLE. I believe these boys have mummies like you! :imanangel: :salute:

                  Hi Snow Crystal,

I must thank my friend who heard me sob and then explained what I have to do after crying out buckets. She has been a great source of inspiration to me. My son is very lucky to still be in express stream, thanks to his patient tutors who never once gave up on him, even though he doesn't have a strong foundation.

You are so right...our kids shouldn't be determined by 4 LETTERS or 3 DIGITS. They are humans. :hugs:

One spoilt apple don't make a school. The teachers, the culture, the motto, etc are more important than one individual (VP) who probably don't teach and may not be around that long.

When a person is feeling down, many things, words and actions that come your way can be deemed as negative and inappropriate. It is easy then to let your sensitivity marred your judgement. Do look beyond bad experiences and look at the bigger picture. If the school has an admirable track record and willing teachers who would go beyond teaching, you got a school.

                      Hi fifi,

How does your son feel about the school, other than the VP?
Is the school convenient? How do you feel about the environment?
