Does anyone know the schedule of incense paper burning during the Hungry Ghost month. I thought it is on 1st and 15th but I notice burning also happen on other days. Also, is there a time of the day that they burn.
I’ve closed up all my windows until late evenings. Yesterday, had to spend so much time cleaning the floor and all the shelves in my backyard because I was caught off guard and didn’t take preventive measures.
I wish someone will invent something to prevent the ashes from flying all over. -
Waahh, talk about neighbours. I am so glad this family have moved out.
Nothing against religion, but this family burns offerings like every weekend. Though there are designated areas for burning offerings, they like to burn the offerings in their front patio. And instead of pulling the bin to the other side of the patio where there are no more units next to them, they pull it towards our unit. And they dun just burn but they will use a stick to stir whatever they are burning in the bin. Ash will fly all over. I requested that they let us know when they are gonna start burning their offerings so that we can bring in our laundry, and got a curt, hmmm and the door slammed in my face. And things remain the same.
To make matters worse, they have a yappy dog. The lady will wake up late in the morning, usually around 10+ and come out to the patio still in her nightie and let the dog out. The pesky little thing will proceed to sprinkle all over the grass patch in front of her unit and mine and if he poops there, she does not bother to clean up either. Kids in the estate like to use that grass patch for mini football games or at times badminton, but after some time, there were patches of brown all over the grass patch and also possible poop mines, the kids stopped playing there.
Did I mention I am soooo glad they moved out? -
speaking of indian incense.. i hv this neighbour who uses such incense when she is praying... nt that i'm against her praying... but the smoke from the incense is over powerful... and she walks ard the corridor, smoking the whole area... cant stop her as its her religon...
no choice but to close the door & windows... but still gt very strong smell... and to think, she is living 2 units away from me....haiz..
:offtopic: yest 1st day of chinese 7th mth... reach home ard 10pm plus... kinda scary walking along the pathway, seeing all the lighted candles used for praying & the burning of those hell notes... and when the wind blows, everything flying ard.. :nailbite: -
a new neighbour moved in recently.
one day, i heard this \"喔呜\" sound going on for more than 2-3 minutes. it sounds kinda scary especially when i am alone in my house. checked the house, nothing unusual. went to kitchen - shucks, it was the new neighbour's maid standing just below my window (mine is high ground so got to stand in front of window to see who/what is outside) \"wu and wo\" trying to get baby to sleep.
now nearly everday, maid will come down from her unit, stand in front of my window and \"wu and wo\" away.
not irritating but just wonder why cant she go to the corner to do it? :? -

there are bins with cover for burning the papers. my sis's neighbour has been using this commonly found red bin for years at the stairway. not messy at all. -
WCW:
oh... then maybe can recommend them for some singing competition sot hat they realised how good they are :?
I'm lucky I don't have karaoke neighbors but mine do Chanting, very loud one. Certain mornings, husband and wife duet, even louder. Someday mother-in-law join in for trio, very chum because she's the loudest. Sometimes it sounds like 'take a holiday, take a holiday', sometimes like 'coca cola, coca cola'. My kid's always tease about this.
Once a month, they have some meeting and the whole team chants. I must say I've gotten to accept that and closed up all windows if I feel affected.
Another problem is the family talks extremely loud and the 2 kid's are always crying and shouting at each other. They are always hollering instead of using talking voice, wonder if it has to do with the fact that wife's a teacher. Sometime she passes order to maid from the gate shouting at top of voice. Other than these problems which is still bearable, they are a nice family, just quirky habits. -

Now dengue season, so must appreciate instead of complain about this?dovetail:
