          2 2/3 = 8/3 = 16/6

          16 sixths.

Teacher: Give me a fraction between 1/2 and 3/4.

            Sam: 2/3, because 2 is between 1 and 3, and 3 is between 2 and 4.

Question: is this reasoning always correct?
If not, give examples where it does not work.

                Hi BigDevil,
                Thank you for your answer.
I do not understand the question? Could you explain what they means by
                sixths in the question?

                  Thanks, PapayaDad.

So we can pick any 2 fractions?
What if the fractions must be x/y and (x+2)/(y+2) like in the question?
                  Then is it always true that x/y < (x+1)/(y+1) < (x+2)/(y+2) :?

                    From thefreedictionary.com....

                    n.
                    1. (Mathematics)
                    a. one of six equal or nearly equal parts of an object, quantity, measurement, etc.
                    b. (as modifier) a sixth part
                    2. (Mathematics) the fraction equal to one divided by six (1/6)

So the question is asking how many 1/6's there are in the given fraction.

A number is 6000 when rounded off to the nearest 10.
What is the largest possible number?
