      Hi,

For the b Questn... Tree B roots were long and anchored tightly to the ground during the storm while Tree A roots were short nd could not hold onto the ground tightly.

Think this is correct. If wrong pl correct me.

But for the c Questn...can somebody give me the answer.....

      Thanks in advance.
Ans: (B) - Roots take up water and minerals, such as nitrogen and sulfur, from the soil.

P4 already know nitrogen and sulfur?

P4 already know nitrogen and sulfur?[/quote]Actually the answer given is During a dry spell, the upper part of the ground would dry up and the lower part is harder too. Hence the roots should be longer to absorb the water and mineral salts to make food. If roots are shorter they cannot absorb them.

My doubt is.....if we just say The roots should be longer to absorb the water and mineral salts. If they are shorter they cannot absorb them. Is this answer correct this way or...

Shud we add up and say abt the dry spell reason......I donno...somebody help me...

Hi, need help regarding this :

Q1)How many stages are there in the life cycle of the balsam and the bean plant?
              What are the stages?

Apparently, one of them has 3 stages but not the other.

Q2) If a female mosquito lays its eggs on 15 June, on approximately which day can we expect the number of mosquitoes to increase in that area?
              a) 28 July
              b) 15 July
              c) 28 June

              Thanks in advance!

                  Hi
Q1 It is impossible for a plant to have four stages in the life cycle. If you look into the primary syllabus,a plant has 3 stages.
Q2 If you search in the internet,it takes approximately 3 weeks to grow fully as a adult. Thus, the answer is (b).
                  Cheers

                    Hi charsen, thanks for responding.

Regarding qn 1, the balsam falls under the category of a 4-stage cycle (stated in answer sheet).
Regarding qn2, I also had the same answer as you but the answer sheet states 28 July.

I could not fathom why which is the reason I wrote in.Perhaps the answers given are wrong. Can any other mummies help to clear my doubts or to explain the answers?

                    Thanks very much.

My dd science guide also had this ques, following on from a graph, but I don’t know how to copy the photo into this forum on iPad. Basically, since the ques on the mosquito life cycle follows from the graph, all the child has to do is to read the graph correctly. Perhaps you could check the science guide again, or the science guide missed out on the graph.

Haven’t come across any ques on a 4-stage Balsam life cycle.

Bcos the only visible effect of this experiment is about the comparison of the conductivity of the 2 different materials/containers. (note: at P4 level)

It's a fun way to try it out at home, like a performance base experiment...

PS. as far as I know, at P4 level, the model answer given suffice.

                        Hope this helps.
