      hmmm... I see your point.

I don't deny English comprehension does play an important part in solving math problems, what I am trying to say is it should not go to the extreme where, for example, in previous case where \"four baskets of 3 fruits\" has to be 4x3, instead of 3x4... just because English put it this way ....that's ridiculous to me...

I guess I need to study P1,P2 textbooks and find out what is going to be tested before I can coach my child no matter how simple the concept itself is...... God help us parents! 🙏

Jokes aside, I see your points ks2me, thanks for sharing.

 it's ok gajidouma, I went through the questioning phase like you but my question was more on the methods used, without English getting in the way. As you move along, you will appreciate certain rationale that the school has. Now I can accept questions related to English and also not assuming certain Math laws is intuitive to children. What I have not accepted is the use of different methods in problem solving if the method is not specified in the question. However, if the method is specified, I am with the school too.

This is a journey, take it easy and enjoy the ride. 😄

primary school maths is now more difficult than before but still possible to score 100% if you are good.

Oh yes, tough… haha… I used to think it’s okay until it’s my children turn then it became a big problem because it is so difficult. I have a headache. At that time, my child was struggling then I felt so much like a failed mom, because I have heard from others before but I just think they are too serious about sending their primary 1s or 3s for maths building and science building. Recently, this year and late last, I felt the pinch and I had to bark up to find assistance for my children… Especially the private tutors, had to change again and again. Not enough headache… Now, luckily not much headache with maths and science anymore, because I found a reliable source who at least teaches application otherwise I will have headache again. Return of examination papers makes me crazy too… Slightly helpless mom… but I still have headache with languages… Now, I am quite crazy connecting and sharing with parents otherwise, I miss out a thing or two and regret and fail as a mom again…
