      tigger88:
I just started giving plain rice cereal to my 5 months old baby. I bought the Nestle brand as I cannot find the Heinz plain rice cereal anymore.

What other brands of rice cereal are good to start with? I find Frisocream too sweet.
I find Nestle even sweeter than Frisocream. Have tried organic rice cereal (Bellamy) with my bb but she doesn't like it even when I add fruit puree to it. :moneyflies:

So far seems like not many babies like Bellamy. Try Organix or Happy Baby šŸ™‚

I haven't tried Bellamy for DS2 but DS1 hated it. hahaha.
From my friends' feedback, seems like their kiddos don't enjoy Bellamy.

Bellamy is very very bland. My DS2 doesn't like it either. But rather than let it go to waste, I add it with pumpkin, sweet potato or fruit like apple, pear etc .... šŸ˜„

                Sweet but so delicious.

My DS2 is so used to it that now that I have started with home cooked blended brown rice and vegetables, he is protesting šŸ˜† but ok lah, not too bad, he is getting used to it šŸ˜„

Mine loves his porridge! And I've stopped blending (he's 7.5mths now).
He prefers to chew on his food than to have mushy food (so unlike DS1)!

I tried mixing Bellamy with Frisocream but she can detect it. :stupid: Have started brown/red/white rice porridge mixed with meat and fish, on top of veg since she was 7.5 months. She loves her porridge šŸ˜„

Actually, I have been very apprehensive introducing my DS2 to solids. He has reflux problem.

I have spent the last many months waking up in the middle of the night ensuring that he doesn't choke on his vomit/regurgitation. That is in addition to normal waking hours. At 10 months, he was 7kg. He cannot take sweet potatoes except those from Australia. He also cannot take the local pumpkin, except butternut squash. Fruits like ripe papaya and mango need to be steamed before he consumes them. 🤷 His meal times are broken up into several small meal times 30 to 45 mins apart. So for example, dinner starts at 4.00pm and ends at 6.00 to 6.15pm. It is only recently that I have started taking him out with us, because it was such a hassle bringing several changes of clothes and dealing with his \"verbal outpouring\" šŸ˜‚

It was particularly bad during teething. He drooled ALOT!! And not sure if it is linked to reflux but he woke on on two separate occasions in the morning vomitting thick saliva like substance. He was not able to hold down anything at all. After bringing him to the PD and giving him the medication, it became better. By then, he had not eaten for more than 12 hours, poor fellow. :hugs:

The only food that he took to were the cereals from Nestle and Friso. In fact the oats and prune and Friso's wheat are his particular favorite šŸ˜„ but I was getting worried because I personally believe that over reliance on commercial food will make the baby a fussy eater.

So recently, about a week back, I started cooking brown rice, adding vegetables and ground ikan bills powder, subsequently blending it to feed him. So far so good, after a bit protesting :imcool:

The PD assured me that the reflux problem would heal by the time he turns one. And I must say that it does seem to get better :xedfingers:

                        Just sharing my experiences :boogie:
