They dun hv referral discount wor. Better to enrol earlier. Last yr there was some miscomm for my case. Was told there were a lot of empty slots so I confirmed my placement a week later thr phone. The admin girl asked me to come down and make payment first which I did that very weekend. Was shocked :!: when another admin girl who was there tat time told me no more slots. I insisted they gave a placement for my child......which eventually they did though it exceeded their intake.Hi luvmum,

Their worksheets cover well on P1 syllabus but reinforcement still needed at home. -

HI,
All parents.does any one sending their child to mind strectcher at bukit batok or jurong branch.coinsidering to enroll child at any one center but little confused which one.any feedback of tutors at both the centres.pls help me. :?
thks. -
Hi parents!
I’ve some experience with MS and I have to say that the worksheet is pretty comprehensive for both English and Mathematics. The centre’s forte is in English but over the course of this year, it has been able to build up its Maths capabilities with the worksheets being revamped and more components being introduced.
My son has been with the TAMPINES branch for two years now and next year, we’ll be continuing as well as he will be in P6. In fact, he was the one that told me that he would like to continue studying there as the teacher that he was assigned to his class has been very interesting in keeping him engaged throughout his 4 straight hours on Saturday (I enrolled him for both EL and Maths, back to back) and his feedback so far has been great. He told me that through his 4-hour lesson, many of his friends, like him, will not even feel it as being that long as the teacher makes the lesson interesting. I’m really glad that he has become more motivated and his results are showing, both in EL and Maths.
I do hope that the same teacher will be taking him next year. The teacher hinted to them that he will be following them up but it’s up to the centre management to decide.
For parents who are keen on signing up, I highly recommend the Tampines branch (I’ve heard of Katong before but judging from the 2011 schedule that they put up, they don’t have that many options for timeslots which tells me that they probably aren’t doing too well in keeping their students).
Another word of advice though, for any tuition centre be it MS or otherwise, in enquiring for the current student enrollment for a particular timeslot, you have to know that having a class that is at its maximum or close to maximum capacity (15, in the case of MS) is not necessarily bad as it shows that the tutor is great and the students are staying at the centre. My boy’s class is at its maximum capacity and it has been great so far. He says that the teacher handles the class well and everyone is expected to contribute to discussions and interaction.
Also, It all boils down to the tutor. If your child isn’t responding well to a tutor, you might want to try others within the centre. Ultimately, don’t forgo the good materials that the centre has to offer just because there is a mismatch of tutors.
Hope it helps. -

Hi,
Hi MMM,MMM:
Just heard from another parent who send his kid to Mindstretcher for EL. The son is still having issues grammatically and for compo despite attending the class. Not much improvement to results as well.
Difficult to have a good centre......
any good centre in the west that teach P1 preparatory? Urgent to find or will put my DD1 at Read in a week and mpm maths.
What about 'The Alternative Story' at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre?
Just shifted my P4 son from Mind Stretcher to there.
My son been studying in Mind Stretcher since beginning of the year but his grammer and composition still need to improve.
He's quite enjoy his class at The Alternative Story.
Every lesson, he's teacher will feedback his weakness and ways to improve. -

Agree with what catddy2002 said about The Alternative Story. Actually, my two younger kids have been with them for slightly more than a year. They are at the Yishun branch. The older one takes all 3 subjects and the younger takes English and Science. My girl who is in P6 this year passed Maths for the first time after being with The Alternative Story. Her science was about 60 plus in the past, now it is 70s, almost 80. For English, her composition was picked by the teacher to show to the whole class as a good piece of writing. That never happened before. Overall, her English, she topped her class this year for prelims. My youngest also improved quite a bit. I recommended this centre before to some forummers but never really talked about it but I have seen a lot of improvement for myself for my own kids. I can't speak for other parents as I don't usually go down to the centre to pick my kids but I can really see improvement for my children. It is quite a new centre from what I know. But to me what is most important is effective teaching. -
Hi mummy of 3,
Thanks for informing, but there isn't any suitable centre which is near my place & is too far too.
