        Hi drdj

        When you post questions, you don't have to click on quote everytime unless you are referring to it.Otherwise it becomes kind of confusing.

        Just click on post reply will do.

          Hi drdj,

          Let area large and small shaded sectors be A and B respectively, area of unshaded part of rectangle be C and area of small quarter circle be D

          C \t= ((4 X 2) – B)cm2
          \t= (8 – B)cm2

          A\t = (¼ x 3.14 x 4 x 4 – D – C )cm2
          \t\t = (¼ x 3.14 x (42 – 22) – C)cm2
          \t\t = (9.42 – (8 – B))cm2
          \t\t= (1.42 + B)cm2

          Difference between 2 shaded areas, A-B = 1.42cm2

            Hi Dharma

            You may wish to take a look at this again

            (¼ x 3.14 x (42 – 22) – C)cm2

            Please clarify how you arrive at this.I guess you are referring to the difference in areas between the two quadrants.You must be referring to 4*4 (4square or 4 to the power of 2)

            Difference in areas --- (¼ x 3.14 x (4*4 –2*2) – C) sq cm

              Sorry Tianzhu …superscript disappeared when cut and pasted from ms word

              Area of larger shaded part(A) = Diff in area of the 2 quadrants - C

              A = 1/4 X 3.14 X (4x4 - 2 x2) - C

              C = 8 - B

              A = 9.42 - 8 + B

              So, diff between A & B, i.e. A-B = 1.42

                    Let F be Fishball and S be Sotong ball

                    F + S = 520 – (1)
                    0.25 F + 0.5 S = 180 – (2)
                    (2) X 2 gives you 0.5 F + S = 360 --(3)
                    (1) - (3) gives you F = 320

                        if it’s for p6 and they are taught algebra and simple simultaneous equations, they are allowed to solve it as merlion has shown.
