1)Mrs Lim bought some bowls and plates. If she buys another 5 bowls, there are 60% as many bowls as plates. If she buys another 9 plates, there will be thrice as many plates as bowls. How many bowls did she buy? ( P5 Catholic High School Math,SA2,2009)
I like the answer from MathIzzzFun. It might be a tad easier if we started with the second half of the question.

            Hi Mathizzzfun & Alderbaran,

Many thanks for the solutions! I’m clear now…

Btw, I’ve got one more please.

Miss Chew bought a total of 60 mangoes and oranges. The ratio of the amount spent on mangoes to that of the oranges is 4:1. The mangoes cost $72. If a mango cost twice as much as an orange, find the ratio of the number of mangoes to the number of oranges.

            Thank you.

              Hi

since the question is asking for Ratio of number of mangoes to oranges, a lot of information is redundant.

              http://i53.tinypic.com/2uze3ch.jpg\">

              Total cost of mangoes : oranges = 4 : 1
Since cost of one mango : one orange = 2 :1

              Number of mangoes : Oranges = 2 : 1

              cheers.

                    hi all,

Need help on this question. Thanks

A skirt cost 1/3 as much as the cost of each pair of shoes. If Tricia bought 2 shirts and 5 pair of shoes for $799, how much did she pay for each shirt?

                    Thanks

                      Hi

I presume that it is \"skirts\" and not \"shirts\" in the second sentence.

                      This model will help 😄
