HiCan anyone help fast?
Mr Ang had 600 red and blue balloons altogether. After he sold 20% of his red balloons and bought another 60 blue balloons, the number of blue balloons was 2/5 the number of red balloons. How many red than blue balloons were there at first?
Thanks in advance.
A neat way is to use MD.
I’ll just give some pointers due to time constraints.
Red balloons sold ----- 10 units
Red balloons remaining ----- 40 units
After he sold 20% of his red balloons and bought another 60 blue balloons, the number of blue balloons was 2/5 the number of red balloons.
5 parts ------- 40 units
1 part ------ 8 units
2 parts ------ 16 units
50 units + 16 units – 60 ------- 600
66 units ------- 660
1 unit ------- 10
Red balloons@first ------- 500
Blue balloons@first ------- 100
You may carry on from here.
Best wishes -
All the best for all fellow PSLE dragons for tomorrow’s Maths exam!

Hi,
Mathizzzfun, thank you for the last minute and quick response to the math question.
Tomorrow is the Math paper. I wish all students best of luck!
I want to especially thank Mathizzzfun & tianzhu for all the time taken to solve our math problems. There are many other contributors too. Thank you all for being so selfless and being a pillar of support and encouragement to all the parents here, you have been so patient with us. It gave me a lot of comfort to know that I could fall back on coming to this thread should my kids need help for Math.
So my heartfelt thanks to you all and May God Bless You!
:thankyou: -
Thank you so much…really appreciate it… Tianzhu

remember to give your units correctly and also the equation signs if not 1/2 mark gone. there must be lots of algebraic questions. Do your working for working marks even if you dont know the answer just scribble something.
Wish you all all the best… AFEW more days to go before celebration! -
